We own property #921 at El Retiro and will keep our fingers crossed that some other owners might come along here.

Hi fanny - and long may it remain relatively problem free!

We're going out Saturday until tuesday and than again mid/late April. How often do you get out there and what do you think of the development?

Andy

We go out about 3 or 4 times a year, we really like the development,
shame about the indoor pool though

Indoor pool?  Am I missing something? Was there supposed to be one in the gym complex?  We sneaked in there last time we were there and it's such a shame it's lying idle as the quality of the fit is just the same as the apartments.

Are you in the OVP rental programme?

(last question) Is your email address in April Lane's list of owners?

Just heard from daughter and it's very warm out there now :)

Andy

Hi Dan

The outdoor pool yes, indoor pool no. We were there the day this devt. was launched and it was a bit of a frenzy. A lot of the agents were on the phone to their contacts and I think they shifted well over half of the inventory on that day. We believe the developer kept 2 of the 9 blocks himself and they still seem to be empty.

No Dan it wasn't me that bought 5 thank god, just wanted 1 as a holiday home / part investment -
Fanny by name but not by nature!!!  One property is more than enough on the Costa del Sol at the moment.

Your right there bud.

At least your development is in a good area so hang in there and you will be one of the few that should do O.K.

Dan

If that's right about El Retiro being in a good area, than that's good news, but what makes it a good area? I also see in another forum, discussion about poor build quality of a lot of devts in Spain. We have some minor complaints about snagging etc. but to me the quality at El Retiro seems pretty good.

Thanks for the input

Andy

Hi Andy

By far the best development they had and you should feel very fortunate unlike thousands of other poor souls and think you will be O.K

1   Postcode

2  Location to road network, the best facilities on the costa del Sol

3  Distance from airport

4 Architect      ( Like in any country there are good and bad developers) trust me this was one of the better ones unlike the biggest cowboy builders on the costa that build most of the other crap properties for them.

5 Size of apartment (good size if I recall)

6 Price (late  200,000 euros if I recall)

7 This was not really one of their developments.

8 Sold our very quickly as investors were primed before launch and I was on the sales side on the first day and they knew what they were looking for.

9 Away from the bucket and spade brigade and not 2 hours drive from the airport in overdevelopment areas with limited facilties.

10 Climate ( suprised as you may be its not all the same on the Costa del Sol)

11 Access to nice beaches ( have you seen Manilva,s and ares etc black grainy sand )

Didnt go for the furniture pack did you

This is the only development that will stand the test of time and the only one that I would have considered.

Trust me when you see the rest you will know what I mean.

Not seen the finished product yet and did they complete the pool.?

Dan

Thanks Dan

Thanks a very comprehensive and very welcome list.  A couple of negatives in that we paid a lot more than high 200,000.  390,000 euros to be exact but it was for a penthouse and one right at the front of the development (I'm clutching at straws here!)

Unfortunately we had to get the furniture pack to put it into their rental programme. The stuff's reasonable, it's just that it's way overpriced. We're considering taking it out of the rental programme and handling it ourselves, so we can change some things.

Thanks again

Andy

Hi

Its better to have a tent in a good area than a mansion in bad one

Shame about the furniture package and yes get out of the rental programme and anything else to do with this company.

Its a penthouse (hence the extra price)in a good area and as I have not seen the finished development cant comment further only than to just look medium to long term and you should be O.K

Trust me some on other developments will never see the light and may well consider walking away if they havent completed.

Dan

Hi Folks

Is there any full time residents in El Retiro de Bel Air. I've just been to look at an apartment to buy there with a view to living there full time.

I didn't know about the rental agreement thing.

Any other info about the place would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Yvonne

Hi Yvonne

I'm not sure of any permanent residents but as we mostly go there during the quieter times, we see that there are sometimes a few long term renters.  If we didn't still have commitments, I'd gladly go and live there and accept that out of the summer season it would be very quiet on the development.

Thanks Andy

I'm going ahead with the purchase of the apartment so see you in the summer.

Best regards

Yvonne
