Hi

My wife and I are having an inspection visit this coming March....We like the look of La Torre and Terrazas...Could someone PLEASE give us some opinions/Info on both....The Estate Agent asked us to put a deopist on a property we like the look of based on their pictures on thir website... Not a chance...We would love some real down to earth views on current apartment owners in these areas...

Thanks in anticipation

First bit of advice is to change your estate agent. They should not be pressuring you to put a deposit on anything until you are ready to buy. This is not a good omen. Yes, property sales are picking up, but the properties available are nowhere near being sold out. There is no desperate rush. Take your time and be sure you have a property that suits you. We used LaVidaSpain, Joaquin was fantastic, no pressure and happy to show us any property we wanted to look at over a period of 4 days. We kept him busy.

With respect to your choices, La Torre and Las Terrazas de la Torre are both good secure golf resorts with great Jack Nicklaus designed courses. The courses are very different. La Torre is shorter with wide fairways, lots of water features and bunkers. Las Terrazas is a full 1,000m longer with fewer bunkers and single lake but more undulating fairways and a desert style rough.

The resorts themselves are also very different. Las Terrazas is exclusively apartments in apartment blocks surrounding pools. There are fewer facilities with a restaurant, club house, pub and supermarket. La Torre has a wider choice of properties from standalone villa style properties to apartments in blocks and streets of apartments in the centre. There are more restaurants and the supermarket on La Torre is larger and better stocked.

Having said that, there are plenty of other places to eat and a variety of shops and supermarkets within easy reach of both La Torre and Las Terrazas which are very close to each other.

I stayed at La Torre when I was on my inspection visit in December 2014 and purchased on Las Terrazas. I liked both resorts, but went for Las Terrazas because the prices were far more attractive and the resort was slightly quieter which I liked. Although quieter at Las Terrazas, there is a healthy friendly community there which I also liked. Although I saw more people at La Torre, more people spoke to me at Las Terrazas when I was there viewing and since buying I have visited Las Terrazas 5 times and each time I have found everyone friendly and a good community spirit.

I also didn't think the provision of communal pools on La Torre was as good as that on Las Terrazas. The apartment we stayed at in Calle Remora in La Torre was some distance from the nearest pool. Our apartment on Las Terrazas overlooks the pool and has a big south facing terrace.

I am more than happy with my choice but think I would probably have been equally as happy on La Torre if the prices had been 20000 euros less.

Whichever resort you choose, the area is very handy for the airport (san javier or corvera if it ever opens) and an easy drive to Murcia, Cartagena, the Mar Menor, La Zenia and most local attractions.

Good luck with your search, Murcia is a wonderful place and the weather is great.
