Now I have retired I would like to spend winter months in the driest part of Europe, which is Almeria. I'm thinking about renting a cheap apartment in the city itself next winter while I check out the area and see how I like it.
If you know this area, can you please tell me your opinion of Almeria city? There are cheap apartments in the Ciudad Jardin area, which sounds nice and looks great on the map - but what about the reality of life on the ground there? I am asking because recently I read some negative comments about the city in a travel book.
