Can anyone recommend a Marble Floor Cleaner. Please

3 years ago before moving into our apartment full time we had the floor professionally  polished throughout. It looked brilliant.

However despite all our efforts the floors is now full of unsightly foot marks and other dirty patches .

We have not used any detergent( as recommended by the experts) and bought a steam cleaner which really just lifts off surface dust, but the marks remain.

Has anyone got any ideas or products they could recommend that they have used themselves and proven to work .

Thanks in advance.

There's always a professional polisher advertised in the local free publications like el diario that you can pick up in bars. I use a floor cleaning solution from eroski or any of the supermarkets with hot water and a mop. It says on its for marmol y terrazza I think. Shows pics of floor times on front anyway. It always seems to bring the floors up well.

Not sure how to remove the bad stains - i do know that marble can actually be slightly porus and absorb colour substances like wine if not instantly mopped up. Once it gets the that state it is difficult to reverse.

I do love the marble floors.   I practice and recommend a strategy of prevention:-

a) never wear footware indoors.  This is also quieter for the neightbours below.

b) wipe up any spills immediately.

c) sweep with very SOFT brush.

d) clean and polish with very soft traditional floor mop.  I used a combined cleaner / polish  that is pink in colour from

Buff dry with mop and don't walk on it until dry.

For the balcony i use the same technique but sweep it a couple of times first and use just clean water for an inital rinse.  The pink cleaner polish does make a good job of the balcony too - again don;t walk on it until dry and it will come up shinning and free of water marks.

But if you are renting out then i guess avoid the use of outdoor footware is problematic but worth trying as 'house rules'

Thanks for the advice

This pink cleaner / polisher any idea of the name please ?

Do you just add it to water to use with the mop or do you get down and polish with this after mopping ? Is it a cream polisher

We dont rent out so no worries there but we do tend to walk in our bear feet which leaves marks and we have a dog  who lies on it all the time so i think its just general dirty marks that dont seem  to come off with mop or steamer

If you can help with the name we will give the polish a try

Thanks Very Much

Thanks to you too Caroline we will be trying all possible remedies we love the marble and its always come up lovely but now just seems to look  full of dirty marks although it is still shiny so just a matter of removing the marks and we always clean up as soon as spills are made

Much appreciated I will post on here how we get on

Thanks again Sue and John
