CAR TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP

I have a car being delivered to CDA on or around 13/14-06. It is a Spanish registered car which i have insured through Linea Directa and used our CDA address for this. It has Suma paid for 2013 ITV till Jul and is debt/fine free.

I have copies of the previous owners ID card and all docs to the car.

1. Does anyone know a local Gestor who can handle the transfer for us

2. Can i start the transfer process whilst im still in the UK so it is in my name on arrival

3. If i cant do the above can i still drive the car whilst waiting for the transfer to be complete.

4. Can i put an English MOT on it before it comes over to get us through summer 2013 and still be legal

Any info would be greatly appreciated

 I recommend you get ownership transfered in you name asap and I have used Zamora in Mazarron (Twice) they are very good you will of course have to pay the transfer fee.

Best get it ITV in Spain as soon as you transfer.

Normally when you buy a Spanish car the seller attends the Gestor with the buyer.

If you are insured you can drive the car but the previous owner cops the fines till you transfer.

If car is Spanish registered you can not put MOT on it will not be valid.

Suggest if car is in Spain you hire a car foir two days then you can do ITV and Transfer and then you are all legal

From your post you can drive it till ITV expires and as long as you are insured.

Tax runs from 1st Jan to 31st Dec and whoever owns the vehicle on 1st Jan is liable for that year so its quite common to buy a car in may and not pay tax till following year.

Part of transfer ensures you pay tax for following year. Alama is about 90€ year for a 1.7 Deisel

To register all your docs are required Inc Passport, proof of address in Alhama (needed to register car in correct district) Spanish Car  Cert (log Book) ITV Cert the Gestor will need originals (Possiblty a notarised copy may suffice?) So i guess you need to go yourself you will not want to post all these documents (Spanish Post?) Hence my statement allow a day or two to register when you arrive, after that you are all legal.

The Gestor is in Mazarron town not the Port in a small Park (Square) behind the main street.

The cost is based on a valuation system your car is looked up on the system and a value obtained based on model, age, etc then you pay transfer tax on this value the figure varies but my car sold and owner paid about 300€.

I think transfer tax is 3% of value but value on system is not the actual value of the car if you know what i mean.

Changing plates ismuch more expensive aroud 1500€ (Done that twice also)
