We are looking to purchase a property on MM and would appreciate any thoughts owners and visitors may have on this resort and its facilities please.

Thank you

When we first started taking holidays on the Mar Menor we originally stayed at Euroroda then Roda Golf, we visited MMGR but thought it was very Truman Show and sanitised. Year before last we decided to stay there and hired a nice villa for a few weeks. Our opinions changed and we felt that it had a sense of community, it was nice being able to walk to bars and restaurants and unlike Roda Golf, the hotel has actually being built. We have changed our minds to the extent we are now looking at buying there.

I am a resident and live and work on Mar Menor Golf resort. It is the first of the Polaris world resorts to be built and finished. Thankfully Polaris World have nothing to do with this resort. The resort has a very active community committee that works with the administrator to keep the resort looking good. We also have a social committee that organises days out and activities within the resort. We have our own community website that keeps us updated on events and things to do. There is also a private section for owners only that will contain information on AGMs etc.The properties have been painted since construction and this project finished last year. It took nearly 3 years! This is paid through our community fees, and we are still paying into the fund for the next time they require painting. Debtors properties have not been painted. But will be once the debt has been payed.

The hotel, bars, shop and restaurants within the resort are open all year. We also have more bars and restaurants just outside the resort along the boulevarde, also a bank.

Owners that refuse or can not pay their community fees are a problem. The community is now chasing owners through   UK courts and are now getting results in taking them to court, as well as chasing through the Spanish legal system. Community fee debt is a problem through out Spain.

Overall the resort is kept clean and tidy. Always feels safe and secure with 24 hour security. There is a good mix of nationalities owning and living here. We have alot of Spaniards living on the resort, Also alot of Scandinavians buying and spending their winters here.
