NIE Number Quickly

I am completing on a property on Condado in the next 4-6 weeks and although Polaris said they would take me to the police station on the day to get my NIE I have an obvious lack of trust in what they tell me. Even though this would stall the signing I would rather do this myself if possible. My lawyer wants to charge over £1000 with POE so not the best option.

I understand there are options in the UK using the consulates however this may take a lot of time. Has anybody used one of the many online services.

Polaris have been pretty good at getting us all sorted out with the NIE numbers.  Indeed, they seem to have some sort of 'deal' going on whereby you get collected at their head office and whisked away in a small group to the main issuing office, wait in a cafe whilst some bloke goes into the building then comes back out to get you and you are whisked past 10,000 Algerians in a big long queue outside then stamp, stamp - job's a good un.

I have never heard of anyone being let down by PW sorting out their NIE .   (maybe someone can prove me wrong)

It's something I think that everyone should experience.  

There was 8 of us collected from Head Office and taken to the issueing office. After waiting around for 40mins, it took 3min before closing time for us all to get our NIE stamped!  Job done.

If your lawyer wants a grand just for an NIE then dump him............. a grand for everything under POA ain't that bad, but that would include dealing and signing everything on your behalf, and sending your keys to you by registered post.

I did it all by POA as PW in 2008 could not stick to a date, so decided that rather than waste a number of holidays, pay for flights, accommodation etc then paying for a lawyer under POA was far cheaper, and saved my hols so i could have a couple of shopping trips later on that year............ i didn't sit around anywhere to sign anything !

But back then it was horses for courses, some people enjoyed the completion !

If it means polaris are getting their money in you will be first in the que and I have never heard of them letting anyone down yet.

The lawyer wanted £1000 but it inlcuded full POA so pretty reasonable - I just want to complete myself.

Unfortunatley Polaris wont commit to the NIE number - probably because they are not exchanging on many at the moment - ill keep pushing and advise on their response

I bought a house in Polaris and my lawyers took care of everything, they requested the NIE, I provided a Power (power of attorney) for me to do it from the UK, and conducted the entire buying process with all legal guarantees without having to go to Spain. We completed on our penthouse property on Friday after jumping ship from Terrazas and our solicitor turned it all around for us in 3 weeks!!  he was brill, fortunately we already had our NIE sorted as the solicitor had also done that for us.  When we were at the Notary's office there was another 8 people completing the same day and they had all done what we have and swapped to key ready properties and completed as soon as they could whilst Polaris are in their 3 month protected period.  We are now the proud owners of a penthouse in block 10 and don't regret a single thing!!
