Please can anyone tell me if they have had their insurance claim for the damage sustained during floods settled yet? Although our apartment in Abadejo was severely affected we are still waiting for our insurers to sort things out. The latest is we have been told it is now part of the "Consorcio" claim but again we are getting no further information about what this is and how it affects our claim. We have Buildings and Contents cover for our property. Any experiences you have had in this respect would be appreciated please.

Hi,

We had flooding at our villa in Torrevieja and our insurance co. passed it on to the consorcio. Their assessor finally turned up about 10 days ago and appeared to OK everything, heard nothing since however. It seems to take a long time, hang in there or contact your broker or insurance co. for an update. Good luck.

Mike

Hi there,

I am very sorry to what happened in the apartments in La torre,

What you are saying about the "Consorcio" which I do not think you understand is that you Insurance company does not cover the problems (normally no insurance will cover things like floods, wind, etc) and they have pass the information to the Consorcio de Seguros (it belong to the Spanish administration). This is the same, as for example if you have an accident, and the other car has no insurance, but still it was not your fault and someone has to pay. Then it goes to the Consorcio.

I had no previous experience in how long does it take for the consorcio to pay, but normally, and considering the spanish administration, I expect it to be quite some time. I suggest you contact the regional consorcio office for Murcia http://www.consorseguros.es/web/guest/le_o_dr see if they have any information.

Regards

Maria
