Hi Mirabella neighbours!

We purchased an apartment in Block 3 in Feb 2008 and are very happy with it. We are, as everyone else, concerned about the hotel site being dormant for the last 12 months and hope that things are sorted soon although it is nice and quiet without the builders! We have been over many times (about 5 so far this year) and are coming over again from 14th to the 20th November. It would be great to meet up with anyone who is there at the same time.

We had lots of snagging problems especially with the aircon and the electricity supply. The electric would trip regularly if the aircon was on and the boiler came on as well, or if someone should switch the kettle or an iron on! We had to pay Endesa 132 Euros to ‘upgrade’ our supply (which basically involved putting in a bigger trip switch) for which I am extremely annoyed and still feel that it should have been the developer’s responsibility to do this, as they obviously didn’t get the installation right in the first place! If they supplied the aircon unit and the boiler as standard (which they did) then they should both be able to be on at the same time without tripping the supply. Anyway, resistance was futile and we just paid up. It still trips even now sometimes…

The aircon didn’t blow warm when the weather was cold and we got that fixed FOC. Then we found it didn’t blow cold when the weather was hot and thanks to Juan (the sales guy who is extremely helpful and has been a godsend to us) we got that fixed eventually. So now we can have the windows closed at night to keep the mosquitoes out!

We really love the local area, especially Casares and have been up to Ronda several times which is also lovely. We would really like to see some local flamenco dancing and if anyone knows somewhere, we would be grateful for any info (not the bar on the roadside on the way to Estepona though). If we eat out then Duquesa is often the place to find us. We have noticed the taxi prices have crept up considerably and it would be nice one day to have a bar within walking distance – maybe when the hotel is finished? Or a taxi that can accommodate more than 4 people. In any case we are really pleased that we purchased a Mirabella apartment as we have looked at some of the others and ours are the best and the views are fantastic.

Anyway, sorry to rant on but we thought that it would be good to share with you all as it seems that we are not on our own (which we thought we were last year!)

If building work has started – which would be nice but doubtful - I will post some info when we return.

Hopefully see some of you around. Nick and Julie Spencer
