You may know now that PW will start charging E11.50/month tf you wish to continue receiving external incoming calls from outside the PW community. There has been much chatter on PWHR forum about this. I agree that this is a rip off for the follwoing reason.

Our resort in telecoms infrastructure terms is similar to a large hotel or business etc. with 2000 extensions (apartments) that connect internally to a private exchange or swtich. In PW's case this is most likely now to be a Cisco Call manager IP Switch. This allows any to any connectivity internally between any extension on the internal network using the last 4 digits of the number. My understanding is that we pay for this  onsite infrastructure, maintenance etc through our community fees.

Now to make or receive calls from outside PW, the internal switch must be connected to an external providers network eg Telifonica etc just like BT or Cable and Wireless in the UK. These are called trunks and their is normally a line rental for each trunk that is required.

If every apartment wished to make or receive an external call simultaneously then obviously 2000 trunks would be required attracting 2000 trunk line rentals from the external provider. This however is never the case, and the reality is that for the majority of businesses with 2000 extensions no more than 200 will be talking externally at the same time. In HRGR's case probably no more than 50 judging by the occupancy rates.

So for everyone who wants to receive incoming calls PW now want s to charge a 11.50 Euros/mth presumably for a trunk line rental to the external provider and are using a 1:1 ratio. In my experience a 10:1 ratio, extensions to trunks is good for a large bank etc. HRGR in reality is more likely to be 20:1 i.e. 1 trunk line rental for every 20 apartments for full occupancy, so 50 cents/month is more likely a correct figure.

Charging 11.50 Euros/mth is a rip off and a scam. Ask yourself how many hotels have you stayed in that charge you to receive a call from outside. - NONE.

If you have any questions then post on here, dont call me, I wont be taking external calls !!!!!!!! to busy playing golf and by the pool.

regards,

Graham
