Has anybody on condado jardines had any trouble with their air con leaking.

Our pipes in our ceiling have been leaking and the ceiling has come down in two places

and caused a lot of damage. This happened on tues 28/7/09 and after many many  calls to the call centre.

we have still not had anyone from polaris world come round to do anything about it.

We had a young family who had booked a two week holiday in the appartment and we have had to rent

another property on site so they can continue their holiday.

We would be very gratefull to anybody else who this has happened to to get in touch and give us any advice

Many thanks

Ray & Nancy

Panasonic. But we have since found out it is the pre installation by the builders that is the problem.

apparantly the pipework they have fitted is to small and some of the joints have not been conected correctly

Ray

we are on Jardin 1 and also had a problem with a split aircon pipe

like yours, this was the fault of the builders, not the aircon installers, and was found by the guys from PolarAir when they were setting up and testing the units. I'm surprised that your installers didn't find your problem when they were testing

To fix our problem, I went to the call centre to report it, and PW were around the following week to sort it out. They told me that they only have their aircon people on site one or two days a week, so it might take a while

Good luck

PB.

I have, over some considerable time now, read various threads on aircon systems and their associate problems.
The reason for asking what type, was to establish if it was a wall mount or a ducted unit. For all with aircon units installed here are some facts.

a)      Someone once thought that because the aircon company took only four hours to complete their install that this was fantastic. You could not possibly install a system and carry out all the requisite pressure tests, vac the system and correctly commission in this time scale. So no surprise the number of aircon failures / faults reported on the various forums.
b)      The pre-installed refrigerant pipework dictates the maximum capacity of system that can be installed. Therefore if the pipework is too small the installer should not have proceeded with the install.
c)      Never lose sight of the fact that only refrigerant is contained within this pipework and will leak away mostly unnoticed except for maybe an oil stain.
d)     If the suction line ices up there is a possibility of water being created if the insulation is poor or missing but not usually enough to bring ceilings down.
e)      If the unit is a wall mounted indoor unit, unless a condensate pump is fitted, the drain will be gravity and obviously will not leak in the ceiling.
f)       With ducted units the drain is in the ceiling and can cause major water damage if unnoticed for a prolonged period of time if the system is used constantly.

I could go on and on with the problems I have read about. The bottom line is, any professional airconditioning company with properly trained engineers should identify and either repair themselves or ensure PW rectify before installing / handing over a system to their client.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Obviously the problem lies much deeper then the air con as the installer has been back and confirmed that it was the pre-install. Have you heard of any problems involving the pipeworks on the estate.

However we have been unable to get any sort of response from PW so are eagerly awaiting for any response.

Thanks

Ray

We bought our air con in 3 rooms, from PW last year.  When we were over in July for the weekend, water started leaking down the walls. We contacted Polaris services on day we were coming home and they fixed the problem within 2 days. Our key holders left the system running for full day and it was ok. My niece is over at the moment and it is working fine. The talk around the pool is that most of the other properties are encountering problems. I have always found Polaris extremeley helpful and for the first year have left them a key in case we encounter hiccups

Hi guys

This is my first thread but basically want to tell my story.

Aircon started to leak so I reported it to Gary at Polarair who installed it.

A couple of weeks later Gary informed me via email that in the line of site the pipe is rising or something to that effect and that he had reported to Polaris world. I immediatley questioned Gary on what he means by in the line of site and how he had gained access to my property. He replied very quickly stating he would call me in the morning. This was two months ago and depsite several attempts via email he has failed to come back to me.

In the meantime I decided to speak to the call centre who have told me I have to leave 50 Euros at their office and then they will instruct the builder to make an appointment with the insaller (pOLAR Air) to see who has made the mistake. Is this a one off sort of request or has anyone been asked to do a similar thing.

I don't know if Gary has a problem with his email as every response I get is in Spanish so I will probs just ring him but interested to know if this 50 euros is a bog standard request.

Hi,

We also had problems with leakage from badly connected pipes. Paid 50 euros to customer services as they told us if the problem was with the engineer who installed our aircon we would have to recover the cost from him but if it was there fault we would get our money back as soon as the problem was identified.  Needless to say PW returned our 50 euros, they came 2 days later fixed the problem then sent round the plasterer to fill the hole and the next day the painters arrived 8.30 in the morning and were there the full day repairing the wall in the lounge and the wall in the bedroom, wouldn't even know we had had a problem, place is brand new again.

Gary from Polarair has adviced that there are loads of peeps aircon leaking and it is mainly due to bad connections behind the walls and the water is running down the inside of the walls instead of going down the pipes.  Gary as our installer has to be in attendance when the inspections are done as both parties have to agree who is at fault.  Gary adviced the PW are very busy repairing all there mistakes.

Probably PW are inundated with complaints at the moment due to it being very busy over there. Good luck and hope you get it fixed shortly.

We had a problem with the pre install (a hole in the pipe or something)  in our bedroom which our aircon company (Chilloutcostablanca) discovered. Myself and our keyholder reported it to PW and to be fair they came and sorted it out within the week. As soon as it was sorted Chillout came and finished off the job. This was back in April though so maybe now they are asking for 50E deposit as they are having so many problems.

Hi We had two problems:

In the master bedroom there was NO drains for the run off from the Air Con, PW had to knock through walls etc to retro install them :(

In the living room the air con starting p***ing out water after a few hours of use. After a bit of investigation - we found a pipe under the sink adjoining the u bend and inside it there were blanking plates so after removing those - it drained freely.

We were advised that we would have to pay a 50E deposit if we wanted PW to check it out and if it was their fault they would return it.

As a ground floor apartment that has been through this I am really hoping that the apartment above us does'nt have any probs which affect us! (We already have their bathroom leaking into ours!)

We had similar problem to what you guys are experiencing

The pre install was definately not QA tested as there was back fall on the pipework

Our Air con installer would not fit untill the problem was resolved by Polaris as it would have leaked and he would have been blamed.

Try comunicating that in English or Spanish from the Uk

This took sveral weeks/ months to rectify constantly pestering Polaris who would be insistant they were not at fault untill we finally got the fitters back.

The fitters returned twice when  polaris failed to carry out the repair but said they had, the lads charged us no more for their time wasted by Polaris.

Don't give up

Hi,

We have also had a few problems with the air con.  Although as Polaris installed it we have only had to deal with them.

My parents are at the apartment this week and water started leaking onto the kitchen floor.  I'm assuming this was because of the reasons that other people have mentioned.

I think it has been fixed now.  We've had a few issues with connections causing leaks and some water damage.  You can live with a few problems cropping up if they are dealt with reasonably quickly.  Unfortunately some issues we had have been/are ongoing for months.

Same problem here. PW install  noticed water pouring after 1 hour we had the keys back in August last year. Called them out. 2 days later they 'repaired' it. Next day water again pouring through the door frames. Reported again fixed it sometime in September.

Didn't had the units running since (just a quick test) so thought all was ok. until end of June when we had guest in. Yep the waterfall was back. This time they had to knock a hole in the wall to repair what ever they had to repair. Our guest has to stay in from 9 till 7pm. Great.

So far so good. touch wood, but for the extra money we paid PW or their install (appox 300 more expensive per iunit) they did a crap job.  Just had a new aircon in my villa in Camposol, more BTU but only €350 per unit incl installation..!!

we had the same in Penthouse in June, the workers told us that a lot of appartments have the same problems

the problem is that the drain pipe of the water condensation that ends up in the middle of your bathroom under the round metal plate that is near the airco is not going down but with a curve first up and than down

so they need tho drill a hole and replace the tube down

if you want to see or it is working, take the metal plate and plastic plate under off and see when the airco is working for a few ours you must see a little bit of water running

Hi

Thanks for all the replies. PW have rectified the leaking pipes and are making good all the damage.

We were told that it wasnt actually the air con units but actually the pipeworks. PW have also advised us that if we keep the temperature at 20-24 there should be no more problems.
