Just wondered if anyone has had experience of electric going off now we are on mains electric?   It was always going off when we were on builders supply so I never keep any food in the freezer.   We didn't have a problem last time, but was that just luck?

I'll be over next week so thought I might leave electric switched on and food in the freezer when I leave ready for next visit....

Hi Karen,

Don't know if they are still having problems, other than I can tell you from experience that generally in Spain their supply is not as robust as ours and does go off frequently.

We though about doing the same but decided against it.

The problem is if it does go off defrosts all your food and then comes back on refreezing everything before your next trip how are you going to know?

Thought better safe than sorry.

We shut everything off - electricity and water.  Why leave them on ? Read other threads about workmen running cables across properties  to do jobs,  and using outside taps as well. You're paying for someone else to use your utilities.

If you need to buy food on arrival there is always Eroski at Dos Mares, less than 10 mins from San Javier airport and it'sopen 365 days a year.

correct -always turn the electric off from trip switch inside front door.i have seen builders using others people electric.also you can get power surges to wipe out the tv and of course its easy to leave an outside light on.that could be expensive if left on for 6 months-lol
