Dear All

I am due to visit Playa Macenas next week  and I have been informed that the Beach Club is still not open. As owners I am sure we are all expected guests to arrive who would like to use the facilities. I am certainly not going to pay a membership fee if the facilities are not in place. Can I ask that we all apply some pressure either by e-mail or telephone so that these facilities are up and running as soon as possible. I will start by sending an e-mail to Ursula and the Med Group.

Neil

Dear All,

I have not written on a forum before but have read with interest your comments and concerns  in the past. We too are owners of an apartment in Los Patios and have been very concerned about the amenities,or lack of, throughout the winter months. We were unable to attend the residents meeting on the 20th March but some friends of ours attended on our behalf. They have since contacted us with some of the outcomes. They were assured that the club house would be open and operational on the 1st  April, lets hope it is as we have clients coming to stay shortly after that, and our friends also reassured us that the 'infinity'pool, the main selling/advertising photo, had been filled when they attended as when we were there 14th/15th March it was empty! which left us horrified to say the least.

My parents have just returned from a month at my apartment.  They seemed to have a good time although the resort was very quiet.

The odd contractor was around - dealing with snagging issues etc.  Hardly any other people staying at the resort though. Winters are quiet I guess.

The day they left (20th March) the pool was being filled but was not expected to open until they had recruited a lifeguard.  April 1 was the target date I believe. The general feeling was that the water is too cold for a pool to be of any use during the winter months - hence it was emptied for the winter.

Let's hope the beach club is up and running for April.  Doubt if the gym will be though.

Dean

I was very surprised to see it empty even through the winter months as most of the adverts I have seen for the resort contains at least one picture of this pool. I have not known for a pool to be emptied before without the residents agreement.

The pool is now full and I can confirm it is supposed to be open on 1st April.  No news of the restaurant being ready for this year though so still nowhere to go to on the resort to have a proper meal just a sandwich which is hardly 5 star grub! and no gym.  Not sure what they are planning to charge owners for to justify membership fees!  There doesn't seem to be many of the promised facilities to charge them for and more worrying no information on when they will be being done. Playa Macenas just don't seem to want to give out any information about anything.

Apparantly about a month ago it was all systems go with lots of action painting walls etc and some building work on the villas.  Unfortunately it appears that this has all slowed right down again.

Still no news on the other two golf holes or the front landscaping either.

Does anyone have any news on any of this?

Thanks

I have had an e-mail from Ursula informing me that the Beach Club and swimming pool will be open as of 1st April. I arrive in Mojacar on the2nd and intend to meet with Ursula to discuss the membership fee which for a 2 bed Los Patios is 750 euros per year. I have spoken to the Med Group's head office in Barcelona and asked them the situation regarding the landscaping of the front of the development. As this is the first thing potential buyers and paying guests see when they drive up to Playa Macenas I feel this should be priority. The gentleman I spoke to from the Med Group informed me that the problem at the moment is cash.

Although I understand this to a certain extent I respectfully suggested that why should we as owners have to pay full membership fees when all of the facilities are not open and the outlook from the swimming pool is certainly not 5 star. I just think we all need to apply pressure so that the little things such as the landscaping are completed.

I will report back when I return from Mojacar.
