Hi

I see that CDS is in a triangle of airports - Malaga, Jerez and Gib. Do most people use Malaga? Any experiences of Jerez or Gib - good or bad?

Gibralter is far and away the best means of getting to CDS as it is only 45 mins away flights are quite cheap and you are off the plane and with your luggage within 15 mins. Car hire is also available and can be booked prior to arrival ready to collect across the border 5 minute walk from terminal

It hasn't been so easy for us getting flights from Manchester to Gibraltar as the day and flight times haven't been so flexible and they've been very expensive and now that Monarch have stopped flying there that just leaves BA and we all know what their prices are like.  However, some time in the spring a new company starts flying there and apparently their prices will be very competetive.  They just have the license to sort out and towards the end of this month they should be taking bookings.  The woman I spoke to wouldn't give me the name of the airline.  It took us just 25 mins to drive to Gibraltar from CDS so we hope to be using this option as opposed to flying to Malaga each time.

Hi Lomax

The name of this new airline is Fly Gigraltar Airlines and the website address is www.flygib.com and this airline is due to start operating from May 2007.

The website is up and running but cant take bookings untill the license has been officially ratified. They were due to start taking bookings from December but this has been put back.

They will be offering flights from Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Stanstead and Dublin from the UK and will also be offering flights from Gib to other european airports.

As i use Manchester also this will be particularly useful for us too. I heard a rumour a few months ago and have been trawling the net since and finally discovered the airline just a few days ago.

Yes, that sounds great will be so much easier if the prices do turn out to be competitive after this flipping government increasing tax on flights again.
