Hi All.
Just wondering if anyone knows what the situation is regarding garbage disposal onsite.
Is their refuse collection or a general skip onsite?
Also if we buy furniture and general items ourselves, do we have facilities to dispose of the cardboard boxes and filling?
Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,

Sorry just had to laugh, ever heard of fly tipping.  No really, I would contact Angelbabe (Carol) she is out there living at present and this is one for her to answer.  I hadn't given my rubbish any thought up until now.  Good thread to start  haven't had this discussion before I don't think.  No doubt someone will tell us otherwise.

Alison

Hi Coff,
The Polaris resorts have individual bins placed for waste materials to be segregated & disposed of . If you look at some of the photo's posted so far there are already bins in place on some of the snaps. I'm not sure what the situation is with packaging etc.

regards,

At the moment there are various small bins for different types of waste.  There are also a few orangey/yellow skips dotted around (signed solo basuro) which you can dump packaging etc into.  Get up early though as they get chocca pretty quickly!!!

All

Was out there last week and one of the Spanish pople living there (who I think got fed up with my filling the smalls bins in Jardin 2!) pointed out that there are some largish roll-top type bins situation on the interior road (between the Jardines and the golf course) that you can use for disposal of larger items.   These seem to be split by recyclables, and people had piled some of the larger cardboard boxes to one side.   I did't see them being cleared, but it must be done a daily basis - the whole site is fairly clean.

I think the skips dotted around are intended to the builders' use,  but people were using them as well.

PW don't seem to give any guiance on things like this, which I think is a bit amiss.   A 1 page info pack on this sort of thing would make things much easier, but there you go.

I just hope that the Spanish guy hasn't heard of fly tipping and tries to get his own back whilst I'm not there!

There are bins for general waste - different bins intended for glass, kitchen waste etc.  Only problem is they are not labelled at the moment so it's a case of guessing what goes in each bin.

There are skips provided at the bottom of some of the car parks for cardboard boxes, packing materials etc.  We had loads of the stuff and just dragged it to the skip each day.  I think we filled about three skip loads ourselves, but there were other people carrying their cardboard boxes, etc to the skip as well and it seemed to be emptied on a daily basis.  One day we saw a huge mountain of cardboard in the middle of the building site which we assume they piled up and then burnt as it quickly disappeared!

There were lots of furnishing vans on site - Murcia Furnishings, Polaris Homestyle, Z-Bedz and Torre Grosa were all there - they seem to take their packing materials away with them so if you are having a furniture pack, you probably won't need to worry about getting rid of all the rubbish.
