Three public holidays to be moved to a Monday in 2014
04 November 2012 @ 21:52

SPAIN'S government is considering moving three main bank holidays to a Monday in 2014 to avoid long weekends, known as puentes. A puente – which translates literally as 'bridge' is where a bank holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday and workers either take as holiday or are given the Monday or the Friday in between the weekend and the public holiday, effectively giving them four days off.
