Living with the Presidente.

A tongue in cheek account of living with the Presidente, OR how to survive and extended 'family' of 183.

Sad start to 2009..............................
Thursday, January 29, 2009

2009 has got off to a sad beginning for El Presidente and Moi.

As you know, we went to the UK on the 13th January this year. The evening after we arrived, El Presidente's Dad had a massive heart attack. I was in the room with him and Peter phoned for an ambulance and they arrived pretty quickly and spent some 20 minutes ressussitating him. When we got to the hospital they told us there was no response from him although he was breathing on his own and that it was only a matter of time. He died two days later.

He was 92 and although his sight was impaired he insisted on living on his own and took care of himself with a little help right until he died. He was a lovely man.

El Presidente's Mum died last August, she was 87. They had been married 63 years.

I know that they were getting on and that they had had a good life but it is still tragic and El Presidente and Moi miss them both.

Popping off.....................
Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Just popped in to say El Presidente and Moi are popping off................to UK to see family. Booked with Ryanair for 60€ return for the 2 of us and then another 60€ for baggage and card payment..........still not bad for 2 returns is it??

Apart from the decimation of the 'tree' over Christmas, it's been quiet here. In actual fact, we thought the 'tree' lights had been broken too, but it turns out that the GUY who replaced the batteries had put them both in the same way ..........................and he's not blonde!!!

It's amazingly quiet around here, not just at the apartments, but all over. Suppose it's a sign of the times, although some builders are still building, significantly, the one opposite us!!!

One of the strange things about living here, for me, is saying goodbye to friends all the time. We have made some really good friends who live in England and come to thier apartment several times each year and I always feel sad when they leave, even tho we may only meet for a short time when they visit.

Well, El Presidente is gearing up for the AGM and he put a notice up asking if anyone had anyhting they wanted to bring up at the AGM and there has not been a great response. Can't make up my mind if that's good or bad!!

Right, I'm off now to finish off the packing while El Presidente finds someone to leave 3 bags of waterproof cement with...............................don't ask !!!!!!!!
