An unwanted caravan wanted as a donation for our galgo charity PLEASE
Friday, July 27, 2012

OK, now we are going to be really cheeky. We are looking for someone to donate an unwanted caravan. We have so many people from all over the world that want to come and visit our refuge and help us but we don't have accommodation for them. If we could get our little galgo paws on a caravan we can put it on our land and welcome people over to volunteer. Would you like to stay in one like this?

Seriously now .. we thought people could volunteer in the mornings.... then go to the beach and have fun of their own choice in the afternoon.

So, does anyone at all have an unwanted caravan here in Spain, near the Murcia region, PLEASE?

A galga found trapped in a dumpster & three more galgos found the same day living on a rubbish tip.
Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Yesterday, Monday 16th July, a galga was found trapped in the dumpster and 3 other galgos were seen living on the rubbish tip. The trapped galga, now called Lola, was very difficult to rescue because she was scared & become aggressive when we tried to climb in and the others were not so easy either but GdS didn't want to leave without them so we kept going.

This video & photos will break your hearts!

Lola had been thrown in through the hole on the left.

Antonio from Los Infiernos refuge kindly came out with his catching pole &, thankfully, managed to get Lola out of skip safely.

BELOW: Also yesterday these three were rescued from a rubbish tip where they were scavenging.

Big thanks to Yvonne from 'The Golf Store' , Karin and Antonio from Los Infiernos refuge for helping. The white one took a shine to Karin and allowed her to catch her.

JOB DONE, FOUR new editions to GdS and 4 big vets bills. All are injured.

>>>   <<< Lola has had an emergency operation this afternoon (Monday 16th) ) on her spleen. If you can spare a cafe con leche this week or a Starbucks, please do it for Lola and donate instead. Just small amounts all add up.

again! Late Tuesday 17th.........

Look who is home???? Look who looks a million times better. Lola has had to have her spleen removed completey but she can live a normal life, no worries. We have put pieces of the puzzle together and would like to share our and the vets theory but of course it is not FACT.

Lola was spotted in the street the night before she was found in the skip. She didn't look great. There is no way she could have climbed into the skip as its a big one and she would have been too weak to even try. We believe someone put her in there and sadly its possible she was injured in some way (not a car) that had caused the spleen to swell up as much as it had, it was at bursting point.

So, did someone hurt her and dump her in there????? If someone did then we hope there is a special place waiting for you where you will have to answer to what you have done.

Galgos del Sol goes one further to help save the Spanish galgos! Look for our billboards.
Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Around 2nd July Galgos del Sol had a massive billboard erected outside the Dos Mares centro comercial near San Javier.  IT TRANSLATES "In Ancient Times the Galgo Espanol was a prize possession, our galgo Espanol deserves the same respect today, Please help this noble animal regain a place in our hearts".

The billboard has ruffled a few feathers!!. The whole thing was stolen a week later! The framework too. Fortunately the billboard company will replace it free of charge. It goes up on 14th August.

A 2nd billboard, Respect the galgo has been sited on the C-3319 towards San Javier from Murcia on 9th July.

We just want to give you a little background on the new Galgos del Sol billboard. This beautiful galgo - his name is Hermes - has created such a stir these past few days with his beauty & let's not forget a talented photographer who has captured him in this perfect moment. GdS has never met him but wish we had. As with many of them Hermes started off having a hard life mainly tied to a tree but now luckily lives with a lovely new family.

This stunning photo shows the look of love, compassion, forgiveness and innocence of a galgo, the way they truly are and this moment was captured by © Patricia R. Soto a lady that dedicates much of her professional photography to helping galgos here in Spain. A huge thanks to Patricia for her talents and catching this amazing moment.
