HI EVERYONE

IM JED AND MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE LOOKING TO RELOCATE IN SPAIN.WE HAVE BEEN OUT TWICE AND LOOKED AT AREAS IN ANDULUCIA ( BOTH TIMES WITH PUSHY , DEVIOUS AGENTS ).

WE ARE AT A BIT OF A LOSS TO PICK AN AREA NEAR TO COAST BUT STILL WITH SPANISH ROOTS AND STILL HAVE A FEW BRITS IN THE AREA , I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE ALOT TO ASK FOR BUT I THINK IT HAS TO HAVE A BIT OF EVERYTHING FOR IT TO WORK FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

IM AN ELECTRICIAN , MY MRS IS IN TELESALES AND I HAVE A YOUNG DAUGHTER WHO IS NEARLY 5 ( SHE IS UNEMPLOYED AT THE MOMENT ...LOL) , MYSELF AND MRS BOTH DRIVE AND ARE QUITE AWARE OF THE WORK SITUATION IN SPAIN .

IF ANYONE CAN GIVE US A BIT OF ADVICE ON AN AREA IWE WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL

MANY THANKS

JED

Hi Jed and family

I am at presant having a small Tapas Bar  build in a place called El Saltador , its small hamlet some 20 mins from the sea and only 2 mins from the town of Huercal Overa, Almeria. There is a company called Quantum Villas they are very good , but I would advice you to stay clear of Clover Estates theres a lot of bad reports about them from Albox.

El Saltador is only 3mis from the motovia (moterway) and only 15mins from the toll express way .You can be in Murcia airport in less than an hour or Alicante or  takes about 2hrs .

Fantastic place to stay sun bath one day skiing at Granada in about 2hrs from El Saltador Happy days

Best of luck and who nows maybe have a beer .

I may be biased but .

The areas around Veraand Mojacar is nice. Mojacar is quite multicultural and has a strong English community, bars, etc. Vera on the other hnd is still very traditionally Spanish. The villages/ Towns around such as Turre, Puerto Rey, Bedar, Los Gallardos, Garrucha are quite pretty in their surroundings and all are near to the motorway for asy access to Murcia, Alicante and Almeria airports. I'm still exploring, but te area has certainly whet my ppetite for Spain!

You may be baised indeed, but as you may or not be aware El Saltador is only 16Km north from Mojacar Playa it has the new hospital , thertre, sports complex  and lots more.

So were ever you lay your hat thats your home, and you will find El Saltador has few Brits and is real Spain.

So enjoy.

Hi Jed

Mark isn't biased at all & neither am I but.....as Mark says, Vera has just about everything going for it.

It is on the Costa Almeria between Almeria City & Murcia (roughly half way between). Vera Town is still very Spanish & you also have some great villages quite nearby both along the coast & up into the mountains.

You are only an hour from Almeria, about an hour & 20 minutes from Murcia & also Cartagena for shopping & more culture.

There is a brand new school just opened where I understand the core subjects are taught in English. Alternativly the local Spanish school seems pretty good & supportive of English speaking children by providing additional Spanish lessons.

If you want any more info on the area, feel free to ask.

Noreen

Hi

I have to agree, the area around Vera is very good. We also like Lorca for shopping etc, and they now have a new shopping centre just outside Lorca on the Aguilas road, so you don't always have to travel as far as Murcia or Cartagena for a good shopping trip.

Certainly worth a visit to the area to look around and see what you think.

But I am biased, I live in the area already and love it.

I have to agree with most of the others and recommend eastern Almería. We have been living and working in Vera for the last 4 years, and love it. Huercal-Overa is also well worth looking at.

Also in Vera there is a wonderful computer services business called Compleo!

Hi

We are only 10 mins drive from Murcia airport and 10 min walk to the beach in Santiago, which is what was important to us when we were looking. We do love the place so have a look around all areas until you find one that you feel is right for you.

hi jpdr1966

We live in Estepona,Malaga and we love it here! We have 1 daughter and a son on the way and the people here are so friendly. Estepona town is still very Spanish but the Port area has lots of Brits so you get the best of both worlds! Our friends both work in Gibralter,he is a builder and she works on the phone/internet for Gala Bingo so thats an option for you? You can get here from both Malaga and Gibralter airports and we are right on the beach but the property prices are very reasonable.

Just wanted to talk up the Costas del Sol!!

Good luck with it all, In my opinion,if you are bringing up children Spain is a great place to be.

Hi there,

I know its a bit late but i wondered if you did move over to spain and if so where did you decide to settle. After holidaying in different areas of spain searching for a place that we felt drawn to, Huercal overa seemed to be perfect. My husband is a plumber and i myself would like to run a mums and tots group as there doesn't seem to be anything as such in the area, we alo have a girl, 6 and a boy, 3.

We too would like to be in a typical spanish town but would like to hear a few familiar english voices.

Let me know how you got on. If you havent moved yet I do have a reliable contact in the area that can help as he has started up an estste agency and can also advise on most other matters.

thanks and good luck

Kerry
