Torremendo (near San Miguel de Salinas/Torrevieja - Alicante) - Rubbish Dump

I am horrified by the proposals to build what is being called a 'mega dump' in this tiny village.

I am currently buying a property and was told that this dump would not be built as it was illegal and it was too close to the lake which feeds drinking water to the area and to the local house (less than 2kms - just over 1 mile).

It appears that the local Mayor in Orihuela has purchased land and has given the site preferred status, and the people bhind it are allegedly the ones that operate an illegal dump on the Orihuela Costa.

Why are these things still going on in the 21st Century?

MONEY, AJ, MONEY.

So much for this wonderful European Union and consistency of rights across the region.
