Could someone please let me know how to get an NIE number without having to fly out to Spain . Can it be done through the Spanish consulate. I have got a solicitor in Spain he says he can do this for us but we have to grant him power of attorney (but we have to be there in person to sign the document which defeats the purpose)

I would be thankfull of any advise
