Does anyone know of a fast direct train link from the Costa Del Sol to Southern France?

Hola
There is a fast train from Malaga now to Madrid, but I don't know if you can get a fast connection to France.
Try this link http://www.spanish-fiestas.com/spain-travel-information/rail.htm

Many thanks John,
Looks as though there is a France- Spain Pass (and Saver Pass for 4 or more passengers), but unfortunately as yet there doesn't appear to be a fast route for the destinations we are interested in, which were Jerez or Malaga to Carcassonne or Toulouse. I'll have to keep looking out for any future fast train links being established. Perhaps if Madrid gets connected to Barcelona on a fast link, then there may be some incentive to build a connection through to Toulouse from Barcelona. Ever the optimist! Could be a long time off however.
Cheers
Anne

Dear Ann,
I hope I can help :-)
There is no really good connection by train in Spain between the Costa del Sol and France. Sorry...
You may know the A.V.E. (Tren de Alta Velocidad Español) - the high-speed spanish train.
The A.V.E. will in the near future connect almost all larger Spanish cities, but for the moment and for your particular case, you can only leave from Seville to Madrid by AVE and then from Madrid to Lérida/LLeida in Catalonia. Then take a non AVE train to Barcelone (as the AVE from Lérida/Lleida to Barcelone is not finished yet). Then from Barcelone to the French border, where you have to change trains again!
Two Questions:
A- Where in France are you going?
B- Would you mix train and plane?
If you can go by plane all gets much better!
I would consider these options:
1- From Málaga airport (AGP) you go by plane to Barcelone (BCN) with www.vueling.com or www.clickair.com, which have very good prices. There is at the moment with vueling an offer of just 10E for the outbound flight if you buy a return ticket. From Barcelone you can catch the train to France.
2- From Málaga airport you fly to Madrid (MAD) with Vueling or go by AVE from Seville. From Madrid take an Easyjet flight direct to Toulouse (is that your destination?). I´ve just seen Easyjet = 20E in September Madrid- Toulouse.
3- You fly Málaga-Bilbao with Vueling or Clickair.
Well, these are just some options....
Good Luck
Date of your travel
why by train

Many many thanks Gevaudan for your posting it's much appreciated! Our friends live in Carcassonne so we were trying to see how we could travel over to see them from Jerez or Malaga and vice versa for them to travel to the Costa Del Sol.
Having reviewed your options and websites, the only feasible conclusion at present would be to catch a plane from Jerez to Barcelona (very reasonable and approx one and half hour flight with Veuling) and pick up a car from there to travel on to Carcassonne some 124 miles away, or meet them there and take time out to tour Barcelona together (nice option!), before heading back to their place. Other options were either too long in timescale (train), or the flights didn't coincide on timings unfortunately. For instance Jerez to Madrid flight arrives around 18.25 but the onward flight from there to Toulouse (where they would have to meet us) takes off at 18.20, so no chance!
Thanks again........
Kind regards,
Anne
