We are trying to get the ball rolling on the ADSL setup for our apartment, so that we are not waiting too long for it to be set up after we arrive.

I notice vodafone, orange and Movistar have similar deals but I cannot find where to sign up online if this is possible. Has anybody managed to sign up for these online?

Anybody got good/bad experiences with them?

I think I will need a new line as no idea if the apartment has one fitted.

Can anyone check for you if a Line has already been installed.I doubt it. Does Telefonica/Movistar have capacity for new lines in the area where you are going to live.Search for other ADSL or BROADBAND links on this forum. I personally would not use Movistar,Orange or Vodofone for r my Broadband Connection.I  have using  Direct-Telecom in Tenerife since Jul 2010 ,albeit more expensive but it works.

http://www.direct-telecom.es/  or  www.avonlinebroadbank.es  is a new supplier in Spain. There are other mentioned in these newspaper below.  These Supplier will normally take over your Movistar Landline and you still have to pay your Line Rental albeit to this new company.

Hope you find something that suitable for your needs

Hi Nigel

We looked into it before coming out to Spain at the end of April.  Decided Movistar was the preferred option for us, because of where we live, personal requirements, and went to the local "shop" to sign up on Wednesday morning.  Friday lunchtime we had a call from the Engineer to ask if we would be in at 4pm so he could come and connect the new line/install the modem.

We were really pleased with the service, and the Engineer turned up on time.

That beats the installation time for the UK at the moment, as a family member has had to wait 2 weeks!

Kaz
