Hi all, I live on Costa Blanca and don't like it. I want to live in Spain and be amongst Spanish people. I want to be in a area that has low rainfall, mild winters and hot summers and is no more than 20 mins from a golf course. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Barrydh.

Where abouts in CB do you live? You may want to try the area between Torre de la Horadada and Los Alcazares. I know it quite well, particularly Torre/Pilar de la Horadada, where about 70% of the properties are owned by Spaniards, but still has a cosmopolitan feel.

As for golf courses, you'll be spoiled for choice: there are at leas half a dozen within a 20 to 30 minute drive.

I live on the Las Ramblas golf course at the moment. I know Pilar and like that town but I was thinking more inland somewhere?

 Try Fuente Alamo, Murcia.

Beautiful area and close to the new airport, paramount theme park and approximately 6 golf courses.

30 mins inland,typically Spanish.

I have a holiday home in cuevas del almanzora, home to desert springs golf and country club also 15 minutes from val de este golf club, the area is predominantly spanish, the people fabulously friendly and helpful, and prices cheap as chips, a beer or glass of wine and tappas for 2 euro, driest part of spain and overall best average monthly temperatures in the whole of europe, give the area a looking at, you can fly to either Murcia or almeria airports, also the new Carvera airport opens early 2012.

The area is very much agricultural, the benefit being is it is not commerialised, the fruit and veg is ridiculously cheap and the freshest i have ever tasted.

Hope you find what you are looking for. I have tried to post links for the golf courses but eye on spain won't allow me to do it, google the places mentioned i am sure you will be impressed

For a quick fact finding visit there is a small hotel in the village called hostal lucero, cheap and very nice.

Best Regards

Barry

Arcos de la Frontera. Close to Jerez, Seville ,Cadiz, the mountains, the sea, and the Arcos Gardens Golf Club. Very lively Spanish place with very friendly people. Mind you, there was a bit of rain this year, cough.
