How to get from Malaga station to Cathedral area

I'm going to have a go at travelling from Benal on the train to Malaga , shops ,lunch and sightseeing , any tips on how to get from A to B and good shop areas & things to see. Could be a busy day !!
Also are there concessions for Costa bus travel ? ( or train )
