Ive just this minute had this tax bill from GVA lawyers for 2006:-

Further to our previous communications, we would like to confirm you that we have dealt with your Non-Resident Tax calculation for 2006.

In this sense we would appreciate if you could please transfer us the total amount of  728,32 Euros, which includes taxes and our professional fees.

As I completed in late November 2006, can anyone explain ?

Anyone else had one ?

Nigel

Nothing received, I hope!

Do they give you a breakdown of the amount.

How much is tax and how much for the "Proffesional Fees?"

No breakdown unfortunately,. and some of it does cover their fees.

I have asked for a breakdown and also the reason why one month of ownership should require so much tax

Until I get those answers I won't pay.

I queried my spanish Lawyer about charges previously and they listed a few charges (I was curious as to random deductions in my bank account). They sort of skirted around the issue a little.

I sent them my original statement of costs from OVP and asked them to marry the figures up.

Sent that twice now - guess what - all gone quiet ! no replies!

I will keep asking for the breakdown as its concerning me that some of the charges dont tally.

I suspected that your original bill would be top heavy with fees thats why they did not give you a breakdown. Does the fee cover you for twelve months work? If so I guess that it looks worse in view of the one month tax only. Maybe you could pursuade them to do a 13 month year and then your fee would fall in line with your tax year.

Based upon that structure it would appear to have been better to have purchased in one name only. Every step of the way they  seem to have us by the short and curlies.

Good luck mate

Taxation in Spain seems to be a nightmare. There are so many different taxes based on various valuations and the onus is on the owner to declare it all. Not only that but the whole system is in a state of flux as Europe are putting pressure on Spain to treat all EU citizens the same.

I have been looking through this site and found a thread about taxes a while ago. It seems someone has written a guide for £20 for filling in tax returns etc. I don't know how good it is as I haven't bought one yet but it might be worth an investment. See link below.

http://www.payingtaxesinspain.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/3.html

Even if you know how to fill in the return you will still have to get the forms and presumably make the payment.

GVA have quoted 350 euros for tax return for one person and 500 euros for two owners. I assume they oversee the paying of the taxes on your behalf etc.

Does anyone have a value for IBI tax as I haven't seen mine yet?

Also does anyone know what the valor catastral of the property is?
