Hi All

I am new to this forum but am also an owner on Manilva Beach.

We are in Block D and completed the other day and spent a weekend there. Site is coming on okay although the garage is complete mess and for the urbanisation fee we pay this is not acceptable.

During our stay 4 of us also had the nightmare experience of getting stuck in a lift which broke down between floors and we were very fortunate to get out. Amazingly if you call the emergency number in the lift they cannot tell where you are and no one actually came till the next day.

Fortunately for us our kicking and banging awoke the only other people in block D. [Thks Carl] and between the two of us we destroyed the steel door so we could get out, i would hate to think what would have happened if young kids had been caught in this situation.

We actually live 30 mins from Manilva Beach so have been fortunate that we can keep an eye on things not that it has made much difference. From our visit the other day we believe that OVP travel will not be letting out this site until well into next year as there are no street lights up and the other phases are still not complete.

Up the hill there is also a huge amount of construction going on [including Manilva Gardens] and it is hard to imagine OVP travel heavily pushing Manilva beach till this is all finished. Consequently we have therefore started our own advertising and although early days the response has been reasonably positive.

OV continue to be hopeless as despite the furniture having now been put in we have no curtains as is the same for many others. The kitchens are also a disgrace despite me bringing this to the attention of OV plus the hopeless furniture company well over a year ago. There are no cupboards for anything. Again fortunately for us we have been able to call on friends to put in cupboards for us and the kitchen now looks great.

We have also needed to call our local electrician who had to check out all the electrics as many of the sockets/lights had no power. All the above has been extremely disappointing especially in light of all the slick PR and promises when we bought. The most disappointing aspect is that all this is so unnecessary, Manilva Beach is a good location and the OV concept was an excellent one.

Unfortunately somewhere along the line they lost the plot and we as the owners have to pick up the pieces.

Ultimately i believe as owners we need to get together form our own community to run and manage our development and then decide if we want to work together or work separately with regard to rentals.

If any of you have ideas with regard to forming our own community or have details of other owners why dont we get a forum going.

As we also live down here if anyone wants to view our apartment to see what we have done to make the kitchen look better or needs help finding local tradesmen who are good drop me an email.

Hi,

I really feel sorry for anyone who has completed at Manilva.

Not only do you now own a property that is worth about 70% of what you paid for it, with a furniture pack and airconditioning that, if you have used OVP, you could honestly have bought for half the price  but you have now spent more money on putting the kitchen and electrics right.

Why?

...and now you have admitted to destroying the lift door, on this website, which OVP regularly monitor, get ready to be charged for a new one!!

Believe me, at no stage have OVP ever "lost the plot", they have known from day one exactly what they were doing.

Good luck.

Ok, Okeycokey2000, what is your situation regarding Manilva Beach Phase 1 ?  Have you purchased on MB and not completed ?

Jameshartland - I have an apartment in block D and noticed the one lift (the left hand one when entering the building) was showing '- -' on the display so I presume nothing has been done about it since it broke.

I have talked to and collected a few names of other owners, and we all have big issues with the community charge. I am just about to post a general update on the situation, so if you have a look at new EOS postings you'll see it.

There was no-one else in Block D and I used the lifts many times to go to the basement. I'd have been stuffed if it broke. My daughter was scared to use the other one because it made a 'funny' noise.

PM me directly if you need any more info.

Nige
