I understand that we now have furniture and air con in our unit certain damage was caused during the installation and this will need to be put right but god knows who will do it!

I may be a bit neurotic about this place now and suspect the worst of everything connected with the development. However as an Insurance Broker I would look really silly if I had a fire, flood  or a theft and found myself uninsured.

I know that the management fee will include insurance for the building but I can not imagine that it will cover contents as many of the units will have different qualities and values of contents.

Having said that I dont want to duplicate insurance cover and wondered if anybody else had heard from OVP the position with regards to the insurance cover provided under the management fee, has anybody had a site of the insurance cover as I would be very nervous of the cover in the event of a major incident. I have asked at the office but am not convinced that they know what they are talking about. Who would pay our motgages for four years if the place had to be rebuild?

I can arrange my own cover of course but before I did was interested to hear any comments.

Any damage done during installation of the furniture is down to Villapac so you need to make sure that Luigi in the Ocean View office in Duquesa knows about it and that it is on his list to be rectified.

The buildings insurance is down to the management company, I havent seen the policy so don't know the details. You solicitor should be able to help.

I have been told by my Spanish bank manager that the contents insurance was organised through the solicitor at the time of completion.

I had no paperwork (nothing unusual there!) and contacted GV&A, my lawyers. They emailed me the certificate, and told me it was:-

Contents: 12.000 €

Building: 125.000 €

Civil Liability: 300.506,05 €

So I presume I am paying for buildings insurance too.
