Hi John I am also new to this forum I visited end of November and made three appointments with estate agents La Vida on the Friday with Joaquin, Condado Invest on the Saturday morning with Sara to view on Terrazas de la Torre both were excellent and were not pushy at all. As the bank is keyholder to all the properties on Phase 1 the estate agents have keys to them all . It is just very hard to make a decision on what one to pick. We also some some properties on the coast and used Dave at Girasol for this.  We stayed on the resort and the keyholder was selling  a resale this was not planned and we ended up buying this as everthing is finished in it and they are leaving lots of extras which means when we complete we can start going right away. Hoping to complete in the next couple of weeks good luck.

Regards

Lesley & Ian Aitchison

Hi John,

We are relatively new to the resort and like you were apprehensive about buying. However, it couldn't have gone better. The Spanish are geared up to sort most things out for you, particularly the purchase part. I suggest trying to decide which bank you would use, plus a solicitor. That way if you like what you see you can start the process off whilst over there. With power of attorney your solicitor can take care of everything. For info, we bank we Sabadell who have great app's and websites in English, plus English speakers in most branches, so they are easy to work with. We used Amaya from LS Solicitors on LA Torre, 5 mins drive from the resort.

As we are in the block next to the builder's I can confirm that they really aren't a problem - they don't move quick enough to make any noise ;o)

So if you are looking for a quiet, friendly resort TDLT could be the place for you.

Hope that help and good viewing

John, to give you an idea of what type of a resort it is, I too started out asking all the questions of owners who were willing to share their experience so you don't make the same mistakes.  Duncan told us not to buy furniture through the selling agent.  He also told us which gas and electric package to be on.  I passed this on to Jim Thorpe and before visiting the second time asked if there was somewhere we could buy the necessities to make a cup if tea late at night and when we arrived Jim had left tea bags etc on our doorstep.  When you take into account we hadn't met any of these people I find that pretty amazing.

when we went out shopping Jim and his friend came to help us get everything out of the car and into the apartment.

the lady in the supermarket speaks very little English which is loads more than we speak Spanish but she was still able to get us to wait five minutes for a freshly baked loaf and explain which of our intended purchases were shampoo and which was shower gel which caused a good laugh.

its friendly, it's helpful, both phase 1 and 2 have plenty of space around them unlike some developments which felt claustrophobic.  The prices you can still buy phase 1 fior is amazing when you consider what you get and that's not taking into account the Star Wars golf course, the beautiful gardens, the beautifully kept pools and the 24 hour survey lance.

if it's a long term home from home your after like us, what's to loose?

Hi Polly,

I have a spreadsheet of all costs incurred in buying and furnishing our property which I am more than happy to share. I'm also happy to share the monthly/quarterly charges for electricity, water, internet, community fees etc.

If you are interested, send me a private message with your email address and I will forward all the info.

At this time of year although it can be nice and pleasant during the it can go cold during the night , to heat the apartment using your air conditioning ( must be invertor type) it can be expensive to keep cost down get a calor gas fire from leory Merlin for about 50 euros , a bottle is between 12-14 euros and lasts at least 2 weeks they heat up the apartment quickly! . I had 2 bottles last winter and I'm still using the second one this year .  plus the bottle titles fits a gas BBQ for the summer.
