ENGLISH PLATES IN SPAIN??

Hay fellow expats, can any of you guys tell me how long you can drive english plates out in spain and how much it cost to change them?

180 days me thinks, and about 1000 euros for the plate.

Watch out on your car insurance cover on most UK policy's is only 90 days  cover out of the UK. LV do  180 days but  in my case they wanted £350 for a years cover AXA did it for £160 but only 90 days out of the UK  and it goes to 3rd party when abroad. Look at your policy wording.

If you are old enough try saga, they have no limit on days in Spain on uk plates

As I understand it, you can keep an English plated car in Spain for up to 6 months in any one calendar year. Make sure your MOT doesn't expire in that period, or you're completely snookered, as you have to get it back to the UK for an MOT. If you decide to keep it in Spain and put it on Spanish plates, you can't then take it back to the UK ever (unless you become a Spanish resident yourself) as it is illegal to drive a foreign plated car in your home country.
