Have there been changes to the cost of sending money over to Europe?. We have a vague memory of hearing that its possible to do without it costing £15 a time or is that if your Bank has an arrangement with a European Bank?

I  use Caxton fx and they dont charge a fee...other than what is in the rate that you get.

You do it all online for low values, or speak to an advisor if over £5k I think.  Good service, and never had any problem

Hi Jackie- we're fine. We have also used Halo but they have always charged- dont they just add it to or deduct it from the amount you are sending over.

Thanks fozzie and Adrian

I probably should have been clearer I was meaning sending money regularly each month. Maybe its just a matter of sourcing a Bank who does free transfer and opening an account with them?

Hi Adrian

I use Currencies Direct  www.currenciesdirect.com/uk/ I pay no fee for regular monthly transfers and also large one off transfers and get good exchange rate.

That said shop around I do to make sure I am still getting the best deal I can.

Regards

Phil

I can recommend Voltrex who are a commercial FX house,  I have used them since we began the  conadado "adventure" !

Minimum they will transfer is 1K sterling but the rates have been good and there is no charge for the transfer

All done by e/mail once you have an account set up with them,  very easy and they are fast and reliable to date

With the rate starting to creep up you can also "buy forward" with a 10% deposit on the total sum might be an option for anyone who needs to pay a good chunk of cash in the future - wish I had done this when the rate was 1.45 !

I'm another fan of Caxton FX

Very easy to use online facility, no payment fees, margin on the FX rate is between 0.02-0.03 points

Here's another vote for HIFX. I've used them for every transfer since the outset. No charges, good rates which you can lock into and you can do everything either online or over the phone.
