I would be interested to know if any other couple who live here in Spain that are not actually married are having any problems with reference to the subject of Inheritance Tax if one of you dies?

It looks like that if you are not married and are just living together, irrespective of how many years you have lived together, that the surviving partner would have to pay Tax of approx half the value of the joint property plus joint assets. This, of course, only applies to people who are actually Resident here in Spain.

Has anybody had any experience of this please in getting round it? We live in the Alicante area.

We did an all-inclusive cruise a year ago with Vivalia travel, on a ship called the Grand Mistrel from Valencia, it was the best holiday of our lives.

We now want to do another one this September with friends, but i am having problems finding any information on the internet of any cruise companies that depart from Valenica.

I would be grateful for any members of this forums help.

The truth is that very little is selling at the moment. Prices of English owned properties have often gone down by half in many cases.

Buyers WHO CAN  purchase are onto a good thing at the moment. Spanish owners in many cases are totally refusing to drop their prices, their answer is we will wait then untill things revert to normal.

It easy to say but English owners can only hope to sit it out, It will get better you only need to look at property trends over the years.

One interesting way out for owners who do not reside in their premises is to let them out as long term rentals (11 month maximum) This way the property can go back onto the market when things start to move again.
