Hi --just wondering if anyone can recommend a good hire car firm that does not cost another huge amount on collection??

yes look for one that offers collect and return with full fuel, the initial price will be higher than some charge but in the end it will be cheaper as you will not get riped off with the price of fuel

I can recommend Al Andalus car hire used them loads of times. From Murcia alicante and Almeria. Full/full fuel no extra charge for more drivers excellent service.
