I am thinking of purchasing a PW property especially as I have a keen interest in Golf and would eventually like to retire to the property, reading the various comments on PW, I am getting some mixed messages, what is the overall view i.e. minor problems worth putting up with or is not as the brochure blurb suggests, I would be very interested in any comments.  also, what do PW charge for the yearly maintenance costs.

Thanks in advance

We purchased on HR not to rent, but to have a 'bolt hole' to escape to when we needed some sunshine (and I wanted to get some golf in).

We will use it for some long weekends during the year and also our main holidays. In addition, our in laws will spend a few months in residence over the winter looking after things and looking after themselves too!

Whilst this is not an investment property for us, we hope that in many years time the value will no doubt appreciate. There is a lot of building going on and supply & demand will play its part but this resort is going to be just fine! There is no hotel so it'll be mainly residents (and rental clients) on resort. All the properties are similar so there should be a balance to those that visit too. The golf course looks as though it's going to be a superb challenge and far better than others I've visited locally. And once the Hacienda is built, the facilities will look fantastic (and if La Torre is anything to go by be good too).

There is plenty still to do and the next few years will be needed for things to settle down, but all the gripes you see/hear are usually small day to day stuff and once all is complete it'll be fantastic!

When we stood on our balcony in the December sunshine, with a snagging list a page and a half long in one hand and a glass of bubbly in the other, we just smiled and felt very comfortable with our purchase! We're looking forward ot spending loads of time out there and we are perfectly happy with our purchase.

No I don't work for the PW marketing dept! I'm a simple telecomms guy from Yorkshire who is very realistic with life and a very happy Haciendan!

You go for it!

I total agree with you Jeff. I completed on January 25th. It was my first visit back to the site in three years and it more than met my expectations. Of course there are still things to happen ie (Town centre) but having stayed on the Mar Menor and La Torre I am not worried as I can imagine what the finished product will look like. Like you, ours is for the longterm. We had glorious sunshine last week and the resort looked in great shape. Just some blooming from the trees and growingof the grass and it will look stunning. I feel in life you can always look for the negative! What's the point at the end of the day there is so much about Polaris and our resort that is positive that I just feel happy and to be honest quite lucky to have an appartment in a resort that in years to come will be the envy of other people.

Tony

You will bypass most of the problems discussed on here if you buy a key ready property that has already been snagged & utilities connected.

We bought off plan 3 years after visiting Hacienda Riquelme personally when it was just the Country House & surrounding fields. We judged it against the other PW resorts that were nearer completion and thought this one had a better setting & the properties were spread more across the resort  giving a more open feeling.

Having visited the resort before xmas we feel we have made the right choice. There are plenty of other resorts in Murcia, but they are much of a muchness and Hacienda has a little bit more charm to it than the rest.

This seems to be confirmed by PW staff who I have noticed have more fondness for Hacienda Riquelme than the other resorts!

Also: Link to Hacienda Riquleme being the most anticipated course to be opened in 2008.

Just got back from spending a month on HR and had a very relaxing - not - time.  We've come back to the UK for a rest.

Getting an apartment up and running can be easy if you use one supplier and get a furniture pack,  but as we all know, some items you like and some you don't.

As we are not planning on renting out, at least not yet, we decided to go round and pick and chose.  That we did in Novenber and the basics (lounge / bedrooms) were delivered on our arrival in January.  We drove out with an estate fully laden soft furnishings, bed linen and a few other decorative essentials and have spent the last month drilling and screwing, buying white goods, visiting IKEA - several times - and now know all the major DIY shops in the area.

We have gone for the PW digital TV package which gives all the BBC/ITV channels as well as Spanish/French/German/Polish/Dutch /Scandinavian and a couple of Arabic channels.  It was installed the Friday before the opening games of the Six Nations which was great.

They are hoping to get the telephones installed shortly, closely followed by the Internet.

Ian from QPM did our snagging and he did not sign off on the apartment until the 3rd inspection - well recommended.

The girls in the call centre are very helpful and Miguel, I think he's an electrician, paid us a visit on a few occasions to sort out a couple of problems.

Life on site is very relaxing and there's a lot of work going on at the main entrance and on the course - which is going to be a fantastic experience for all levels of player.  It will definitely bite those that don't treat it with respect.  Percentage golf may seem boring to some, but even that will be difficult to achieve.

Weather whilst we were there was fantastic for January.  Saw some light rain one afternoon for about 10 mins but most of the time it was sunny or cloudy/sunny and well into the teens temp wise.

We'll be back over for Easter and it can't come soon enough.
