Does anyone know where the nearest Carrefours is, I thought it would be a good place for kitchen utensils etc.

The only carrefour I know is in playa flamenca. Ive been there and your right it is very good for all those bits and bobs. It does washing machines etc., well worth a visit.

Davina, there is a large new Carrefour's recently opened at the back of Leroy Merlins just before you get into Cartagena, it's signposted Poligono Industrial.   At the roundabout take the first right and last left.  This is a massive estate with all the big stores and a new indoor shopping centre.

                  playa flamenca is back towards torrevieja near la zenia,but there is an even bigger one in torrevieja itself,only about 15=20 mins.where are you from.
