Hiya,

Didn't mean to scare anyone, I am sure all new buildings have same teething problems - not helped by the fact that most  people are only there now and then, it must be v difficult to get things up and running. The Spanish run all their apartment blocks in this way apparently, ie presidents, committees etc but as they are all living there all the time I suppose this works better.  I have   been told not to worry, things  like setting up community charge etc take time.  Once the meeting is held and proper committee elected, it will probably takeoff. Of course, depends if anyone is prepared to sit on committee and who is president I suppose, but all I was trying to say was that  personally, although I will hardly ever be there and therefore not much affected in any case, I would not like people to cut corners on getting a decent cleaning arrangement set up because they were trying to save everyone a few quid a year on charges.  The apartments will only remain a good asset if we take care of the general building and pool cleaning/maintenance- or we will not be able to sell them. I don't think I will go to the meeting, but hopefully those that are concerned and are out there a lot will feel it is worth looking  after.  It is up to the committee/people at meeting to decide what services we want and how often etc and set the community charge. Apparently some buyers didn't realise there would be ongoing community charges - but I can't understand who they thought was going to pay for cleaning and maintenance of lifts etc?  The area, I think is really nice. Almoradi is still very Spanish (if that is what you like) though seems to be changing fast a bit unfortunately.  I don't think you should worry.  We are all taking a risk after all, and can only try and deal with the things we can deal with.

Hi Pickles,

Myself and my husband are going out to speak to the builders re buying in phase 3 on 27th October.  Another couple are coming with us who are also interested in buying.

Would be great if you could reply and tell us how you got on with the buying process, did you also go out to see the showflat? or are you buying through an agent at home.

I would be grateful for a reply to discuss this with you as soon as possible so I know what to expect when I go out.

p.s. e-mail me direct if you don't want to discuss it on the message board .  Thanks.

Sharon and David

Sorry, can't help, I don't have a clue.  I didn't get anything from my bank that I can remember.  My estate agents opened my bank account for me and the solicitor seemed to deal with everything else.
