Hello fellow DV-members,

We are new owners, bought an apartment a few months ago.  We spent some of the Summer there and now we plan to be back for some time in November and then again in January or February. We are wondering about heating.   What is the general experence?  How cold it gets? Will we need heating installed?  what kind of heating devise are you using, and how much the bills  (I know it depends on usage but any informaton would be welcome).  We are on the first floor, that is, apartment both below and above, facing SE.   We never used the AC, so we don't even know if it works for cooling, let alone for heating.

I would appreciate any information, experience, advise.

Thanks a lot.

Kinga

Hi Kinga,

We have used the heating on the AC when we have been here in the cooler months and it works fine, although you may want to use a humidifier as it doe make the air very dry.

Regards

Michael

Whilst the AC works in heating mode,  it takes time to build up the heat maybe an hour or so.  We only tend to use it in the evenings.

Its useful to buy some fleece blankets too.  They are invaluable on the bed at night, as a snug warmer when watching TV in the evening and also useful if you like sitting out on the balcony in winter enjoying a book.

My best stays have been in the winter months.  Its quieter but still sunny on most days.  Good for walking & cycling - flexible clothing required - multiple layers.

Our friends who live in Duquesa all year round have a gas heater and swear by it it terms of economy and function. The nuisance of course is having to change the gas bottle, but works well for them
