Hello Lisa, Ian,  Carol & Rob,

Just to introduce ourselves :-   Susan and Jason.

We completed on our apartment in Block 12 in December, and collected our keys the following week. This was the first time that we had actually visited our apartment. We were there last Easter, but not allowed on site by the contractors. Anyhow, we compiled our 'snag list' and visited again last week to find workmen there, but not much had been achieved! We also had another problem :  since completing, our lawyer contracted the water supply for us, and on arrival last week, we found that we had a leak from the pipework connecting the tap on the terrace, and so the inside walls of the bedroom were damp with peeling paintwork - something else to get sorted!

We feel a liittle disappointed that the development is progressing so slowly, and that we completed on our apartment, when Las Palmeras is still quite a building site. Despite apparently being such a long way from completion in respect of building work, landscaping and community facilities, we are still being charged community fees.

Just one more grievance for now - we took advantage of Rushcliffes '24 Month Mortgage Interest Payment' agreement, and our lawyer told us on completion that we could expect our first payment at the beginning of Jan. but we still have not received it.! - Has anyone else had any problems as such?

Apart from these niggles though, once the site is completed we sure that we will be very happy with ou apartment there!

For your information, we are just north of Sheffield.

Any feedback would be very welcome - we're not quite sure how this system works yet, so here goes!!

Hi Susan & Jason

Sounds just like my experience when I first completed, it took 6 months for furniture, water and electrics.  Ive also had a leak, from the shower room.  A slow build up of water from the shower not sealed correctly, has meant that the apt below mine had a collapsed ceiling, plus I now have damp in the bedroom and kitchen area.  They have now resealed all the shower cubicles in my block, but the insurance are sorting the damage - rather slowly I might add!

I didn't take a rental guarantee, I took a discount instead, but I think they way it works with the rental guarantee is that you need to invoice quarterly in arrears - I think - not sure about yours been a "mortgage interest payment" option but I should contact the sales office to find out.

I agree with the community fees - got my charges in Nov 07 for the whole year, but can't for the life of me think what its for - there's been nothing there to keep up to - apart from the plants around the show apartment - maybe its for the coffee and tea the gardener drinks!

All sounds doom and gloom, but it will all work out in the end - one good thing, they are connecting satellite to all blocks if wanted.  Never miss an episode of corra again!!!

Hi Lisa,

It was nice to hear from you. It's good to know other people from Las Palmeras!

(Our computer was slow in updating the site which is why I couldn't find your message to begin with.)

We were please to hear about the satellite tv - that was on our list of things we had to arrange - and it means that I can still enjoy my C.Street, and Jason can watch his football!

We'll be in touch,

Susan
