Is Iberdrola Electricity?

Nobody has been in my apartment for over 6 months and the electricity has been shut down at the fuse box for the winter, yet I have still paid 166.44 Euros over the last 6 months, this equates to 27.74 per month in electric charges, when my electric is turned off.

Can someone explain:

-Is this a standing charge?

-Is this an estimated bill?

-Is someone stealing my electric?

People complain about UK utility prices, but I think that 166.44 euros for zero electric, is a bit expensive!

I noticed that my electricity bills increased a lot recently (even though I typically let it shut most of the time). I haven´t had a chance to scruitinize them bills yet, but there is definitely something strange there.

 

 

You need to remember unlike the UK in Spain you have service charges and taxes to pay for utilities so even if you do not use any electric you will still receive a bill of approx 45e every 63-65 days

Standing charges are away up and are set to go higher very soon! Compared my bill, as a resident on tariff noche ( like economy 7) with someone who is here very little on normal bill..his standing charges were about 27 euro compared to my 6 Euro.

Article on spanish tv about a month ago saying that charges will be increased so it wont make much difference how much electricity we use!

Our electricity bill with endesa this winter was 18 euros dec and 23euros feb so average 11 or so per month and those months we weren't there just standing charges oct bill by the way was twenty odd euros and the electric used was less than 1 euro!!

Am off to look at Endesa!!

Hi 2littletinkers I am probably teaching grannies to suck eggs here but its all down to potensia (not sure about spelling) as havent got bill in front of me but ours is 3.3kwh which is the amount of load our supply will allow ...I think. This is quite a low figure but the property is an old village house without lots of mod cons and we dont have a need for air con because tge walls are 3foot thick in most places and we will when staying there for long periods not put every electrical item on at tge same time. I note that some of the newer houses or flats have power of 5, 7, or even power into the teens and with each rise in power potential the price of standing charge goes up considerably. So if your on a high tariff and wont or dont use a lot of power then you can apply to have this reduced which will in turn cut your standing charge a lot. Its like having a rolls Royce parked outside and only going to the shop down tge road once a month, you have the posh car with all the power but never really use it.
