Hi All

We have just returned and noticed that our security gate to the apartment was not secured properly, the switch inside had been altered so this meant that it just pulled too and did not close securely, meaning you did not need a key to gain access to the stairwell of the apartments, we tried other  gates and they were the same, can i request the president to confirm with the cleaning contractors that they make sure these gates are secured after they have been cleaned as this poses a real secuirty issue as I know that due to this problem last year an attempt was made to gain access to an apartment!!!

Thanks and if anyone else has found the same problem then I would like to know

Noticed this situation after someone arrived to stay in an adjoining apartment. Seems they had double turned the key presumably to save having to unlock the gate each time they came back and forth with luggage - of which they had plenty !  Problem solved by double turning the key to re-lock the gate.

Thinking on about this problem I wonder if the people I mentioned who were moving in found closing the gate to be a bit noisey - it certainly needed a good pull to close it with resounding 'clang' - and decided to leave the lock undone then forgot to lock it later. Noticing the noise I smeared a trace of Vaseline on the striker plate. Result . . . job done.

Can I just alert everyone to a motorcycle with two young lads on it....it was cruising the estate this morning very slowly and they were looking into gardens / houses.....I seem to recall that a couple of years ago it was 2 people on a motorbike seen many times in the area when break ins occured....maybe im just being paranoid...but just keep your guard up

Thanks for all they replies on this subject, I am not sure of the turning of the lock several times to stop it locking (as j.p.r. response) but on our gate there is a switch just inside the frame of the gate and when you push it to one side it prevents the gate locking when closed.

Think we all need to be aware of this problem and make sure they are locked, its very difficult when you are  not on site full time.

The switch you speak of is on all of those type of gates including the ones on he Quads and are there as a temporary way of keeping the gate open and should be clicked off after use so that the gate locks automatic when closed.

The main problem we have is the gate to the car park which as a over ride level which some one keeps pulling out so that the gate can be opened by hand which beggers the question what is the point of having a automatic gate that is not locked.

Hi Mo

Yes I am aware of how the switch works and that was the point i was trying to put accross, we have been going to our apartment now for nearly four years and this is the first time we have had this problem this is why I was asking if the president could speak to the cleaning contractors to make sure his is adhered to, I am not saying that the fault lies soley with them but that we must all be vigilant about these security issues especialy when you are not able to check everyday.

Thanks for the pool updates

Julie
