Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone can explain how the billing works for electricity and water. Is there an ongoing standing charge for these utility bills. I have not visited my penthouse in Phase 2 since August 2010  but am still getting an electricity bill every 2 months and a water bill every 3 months. How can they charge me if I have not used any water and the electricity is switched off at the mains!! There is nothing consuming electricity in my empty flat. I would be grateful for any information from all you learned people out there. Can I ask for a breakdown of charges from these companies and who would i contact. My water is with Quagest and my electric is with Iberdola,

cheers

Sunil

Hi Sunil,

There are standing charges for both. I reckon about 30 Euros every 2 months for electric. I have registered to have an account with Iberdola (https://www.iberdrola.es), and can get my bills online. These have confirmed that there has been no charge for electricity consumed when property was vacant.

I was informed by the water people that the annual charge would be about 50 Euros but not had enough bills to confirm that. So far I have been charged a connection charge (June last year) and one further payment of around 20 Euros.

Dave.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the info. My electric was 35 euros so that maybe the standing charge from them. However my water was 39 euros for a quarter that the flat was empty!! I am flying out to Spain on Feb 19th so will look into it then . My bills will still be at the Roldan post office as I have not been out since I furnished the apartment in August 2010. I am really looking forward to seeing how much progress has been made in the past 6 months.

cheers

Sunil
