Hi ace,

We have just come back from a 2 week stay at roda, the tennis courts and five a side football pitch complete with flood lights and nets were constructed in 1 week! the pitches are not yet lined. So it looks as if they will be playable very soon.Sorry did not take any photographs. They are situated to the front left of the clubhouse.

Hi All ,

I have just walked around where the new Tennis and multi-purpose courts are  on Roda

While I agree its long overdue and much needed, I really believe it smacks of panic and not a lot of planning has gone into it

For a start I think its the 7th hole the actual signature hole, the one surrounded by water . On the plans back in 2006 in front of where the Hotel and Spa will be built , so if you were on the Hotel Terrace you could watch the Golfers on that hole

The ladys tee is about six feet from the outer fence ( only about 10 foot tall, that is to low and tennis/paddle /football can easy go over) and a further six feet from the fence surrounding the actual  tennis courts

Other then the golf ,Fooball ,tennis, paddle even netball and basketball are vocal sports  and if you are a golfer the noise and very close proximity would be very off putting.

Likewise I am sure no fooballer playing 5-a-side will appreciate holding up the game as a golfer tells them "please let us play our  tee shot "

I am not trying to be a kill joy have a look yourselves and I am sure very soon some pictures will be provided,

The last thing I would like to see is a 25 foot netting rigged up to stop the balls, it would most defiantly spoil the outlook

With all the pressure on Roda to provide 5 star facility"s I would rather wait a tad longer and have them put in the correct place then cause the the only true 5 star facility we have ie. the golf course to suffer

Only my humble veiw, it would be interesting to hear other people veiws

Cheers

Hi Jored

I think you have made one of the most relevent observations yet posted on this site re: the noise annoying golfers.

Mind you I may well be putting the ladies off their forehand returns when I miss hit my shot from the 7th tee and forget all the etiquette I've been taught!

Well I think it's a step in the right direction even if (possibly) it's in the wrong position. And yes if they could just make a start on the commercial centre etc, as soon as possible I am sure a bit of confidence would be restored.

Any way I am going to download some pics, but here is a rubish video to be getting on with....................really rubbish.

Hi Mike

Great video - and how many of each  of the tennis courts and five a side are there ?

I still think it is brilliant - and better late than never at all.

Best regards

Sandra

This is what I call brilliant

http://www.rodagolfinfo.com/2008/02/

Not trying to fight with anybody on this forum, but fact are facts, read it and tell me you still think what we are getting is

brilliant . Its dated  11th February 2008 and although it dont mention the multi-courts it mentions the impressive par 3  7th hole

Cheers

I don’t think everyone is jumping for joy and clapping their hands thinking that everything at Roda is peachy, it is just a small step in the right direction and something else to offer our renters. When I read that article back in early 2008 I took no notice as I thought it was just a wind up.

I think we have all been stitched up something rotten right from the start, but that doesn’t stop me appreciating the odd bit of good news.  Another wind-up (one of many) is finding out the beach club is only going to be open for 14 weeks this year................................joke!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Mike

We heard from one of the residents of Roda that the position of the tennis courts on Roda are only temporary, until the hotel is built, I did not mention this on  my previouse posting as only heard this through the grapvine and not from the horses mouth(whoever the horse is!!).  So maybe the golfers and tennis players etc will be able to play in harmony ONE DAY!!!!

if you and others  including myself feel that we have been "STITCHED UP FROM THE START" either by calidona or its agents why are people not prepared to do anything about the situation ? how do people feel regarding an action group similar to other developments perhaps there is strength in numbers .

it would appear that there are issues with people who have already completed with snagging issues , those of us who are on later stages who paid premium prices for facalaties that simply do not exist , yet people appear to be happy to let calidona do as they please with no recourse , yet when people cannot go ahead for whatever reason calidona have no quarms about taking them to court , does anyone know of any cases that have actually gone through the court process and the result ?  is this the type of company people are happy to do business with ? or is it about time customers stood up to there heavy handed ways and appalling customer service ?

An action group might help, but I am sure Caladona have their agenda and nothing will sway them. The bottom line is they do not seem to think its good business to keep their customers satisfied. They do the bare minimum and do it late. I don’t know if the promises that were made to us nearly five years ago count for anything now, but if you think an action group would help, how do you start one?

Cheers

Mike

Hi searay,

Although I still get hacked off with Caladona for their rubbish attitude, part of me is happy that at least things are moving forward, even if very slowly. I read this today (http://www.itv.com/presscentre/spainparadiselost/ep1wk25/default.html ) about a program that is coming to ITV soon and apart from feeling sorry for the poor guys, I do think we are lucky that at least Roda Golf has not just collapsed like so many other developments. I moved to Spain 18 months ago thinking that our place at Roda would subsidize our income, but now even with pretty good rentals (around 24 weeks last year and 26 weeks this year so far) we subsidize it, which was not the plan. I’m not back pedalling but I do have a real mixed bunch of emotions when it comes to Roda Golf. On a bad day I just feel so fed-up and think there’s no end to it , but on a good day, looking across the golf course with the sun on my face, I wonder if that is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good Luck to us all..................we need it

Cheers, Mike.

Hi

Does anyone have any news on when the Tennis Courts will be finished and playable. Also does anyone know if the use of these facilities will be chargeable to owners/residents and how we book, although I would asume this will be through the Clubhouse.

thanks

Andy
