Polaris Bank Account 'debit'

Has anyone who is due to complete or who has completed, been aware of PW taking a fee of €16.26 from their bank account?  I got notification of 'Alhama golf resort' taking 'Honorarios y Gestos' for this amount.  A bit P'd off as no-one seems able to tell me what it's for.  Surely they can't  'dip' into my account whenever they please????

AJW    did you use polaris to help collect youre NIE number.We did and im pretty sure thats what it would cost us.This wasnt a fee charged by polaris but an admin fee charged by the state! . Hope this helps.

Yes - I did use PW for my NIE number.  God - it's weird that they can just help themselves to your money!!!!!!!  Thanks for the info though .

We received a letter asking if we wanted Palaris to deal with the setting up of NIE number, and a covering letter stating how much that would cost (ours states 15.75, but VAT will be added I presume) and that they would deduct this from account with utilities, which is fine, because my solicitor wanted to charge me 180 euros for the same service.

Check your breakdown from your lawyer, we have addressed this point prior to completion next friday, and my solicitor states the 180 euros will be refunded on completion, as we paid this in with our 2nd stage payment via our solicitor.

You could end up 164 euros richer, oh and by the way I only charge 10% for my advise...... only joking.

I find that a bit scarey that they have just released funds form your bank account without asking permission, which bank is it your with ? Saying that though if it says Notary, do we really know what all these forms Polaris are asking us to fill in for completion are for.......I am so muddled up ...everytime I get an email form them theres half a dozen attachments with more forms to fill in, I wont be surprised if I get there to complete and I have left half at home.

You need to know that all your bills, water, electric etc are paid through your bank account.  Normally your solicitor or PW will pass on your details to the relevant bodies.  There's no direct debit forms to fill in or signing to take place, they will take what they want when they want.

My only advice is to always check your account regularly, most banks have internet access for this purpose, you can also set up an internet account with the electric company Iberdrola, but you'll need to wait until you have an account number.  They will often post the bill online before they draw from your account, so gives you time to question it.

My only other advice is to transfer over more than you need each month, better still have about 500 euros more than you need in your account for rainy days.  It's surprising how many other little charges keep being taken out of your account.
