Poetry content is the work and copyright of Michael Walsh. It is hoped that those who find my poetry to their taste will purchase the online anthology of nearly 100 poems, Diamonds Last Forever.

Unrequited Love

When you read between the lines

Of a letter never sent,

Read love words into something,

That were never really meant;

Then ride upon your midnight star,

To where you’d rather be,

For dreams are angels’ chariots,

Their wings will set you free.

When words of love are spoken,

To a heart that will not hear,

Those whispered words, ‘I love you, but..’

Are words you dreadful fear.

Resign yourself to poverty,

Return your love to me,

For no one else can love you as,

The one who set you free.
