This blog site will create waves or comments, some in agreement and some not, but isn't that exactly what a blog site should do?  Many people who moved to Spain have tried to rekindle their relationships, live the dream life or even hide from past regrets but I KNOW the real 'them' will eventually come out and it is true...Leopards can't change their spots.   My content will be based on 5 years living in Spain, I made an effort and can speak Spanish. experienced the very best and worse that can happen and I put a lot of money in the pockets of the Spanish...but was I ever invited to a Spanish Bar-B-Q?

The ex-pat is like the new person at school first we all want to look at their flashy pencil case, but we find the pencils are the same, we listen to their stories until we discover that they are lies and then we just accept they are no different to any other kid...we will either like them or we wont.  Post your subjects and lets get going.

I don't know. Were you ever invited to a Spanish Bar-B-Q?

I understand you, I've been living here (Barcelona) for almost three years and I've also have had good and bad experiences here. Have you ever been to Barcelona? I like it, I don't complain, but the big problem is that they speak Catalan here, and they speak few Spanish! I'm new to this, I just started a blog, so I'll be up to date with your blog! Regards!!

Now I'm worried. Four years and I've never been invited to a Spanish barbecue. Do the Spanish even do barbecues?

Hi Pat, Honey and George,

Great to see that you have still got your sense of humours, Yes the Spanish do indeed participate in that Aussie outside catering experience we call the Bar-B-Q and if you take a strole out into the national parks you will find areas designated to this activity, often left by the users uncleaned and probably frequented by the night time activity of the abandoned dogs, dogs that were once to be a prized 'pet' until it's maturity revealed it to be another mix breed that the Spanish pride would find an embarassment, their action is to chuck it out of a car and get another one...third time lucky? I was as close to intigrating with the Spanish as you can get, I put a lot of money into the local community whilst I created peoples dreams and I often recommended Spanish companies, we were friends I thought until a Spanish girl explained that the brits were considered 'RICH' and were known as 'Cash Cows'...here to be milked. Some ex-pats treat the Spanish as third world fools and deserve what they get but the rest of us who try to build a community spirit deserve to be treated fairly. Have you ever been to a Bar-B-Q where the host has invited a Spanish person just to show how well they have done in starting a new life, a Spanish friend who charged €30,000 for a pool and patio! after all they know what they are doing and can get all the paperwork done quicker...more back hands being paid...and yes his Council contact is at the Bar-B-Q as well, friends all round or just trying to be introduced to the next 'Cash Cow'. So if you have been invited to a Spanish Bar-B-Q get three quotes before you get the work done and shop around, too many times we ex-pats get herded towards the same outlet because 'they're really nice'. During my blogs I will reveal some of the rip offs that you can avoid, Spain is no different to the UK and conmen abound so beware and come back...with an open mind.
