EOS SITE UPDATES Nº7
Wednesday, October 23, 2013 @ 1:54 AM

Hi

Yes we have been very busy working away on the site since our last update and although some of the updates may not be visible to the naked eye, they will certainly improve your experience on EOS. These are the latest updates :

1. New Spam detections systems: We have now added an even more complex spam detection system to the site to block spam content on forums, blog comments and their titles, article comments and their titles, thread titles etc This system will be permanently updated as spammers are always finding ways around the detection systems. If one does slip through the net, it should only slip through once and will then be blocked from that point onwards. If you are experiencing spam comments on your blog or view spam comments on any page from now on please feel free to send a PM to the moderators (eos_moderators) and they will block it. Hopefully we will catch them in time and you will be none the wiser :-)  Since launching the new system we have already blocked dozens of spam comments on blogs, threads and new threads so it seems to be working well. Any feedback is welcome. We have also launched the capability to block IP addresses so this should prevent spammers from returning under a different name, unless they find a new IP... but it will make life a bit harder for them :-)

2. Photo Management :  We have made a few improvements to the photo management system within the text editor, this will be more useful for the bloggers as they will be able to organise their photos and have the ability to move or delete them from their files when needed. But probably the most significant update is the ability to change the image name before saving the photo in its file. This will enable you to upload images from any device : ipad, smart phone etc which normally give each image the same title (image.jpg or unknown.jpg). The system does not let you duplicate images with the same name, which meant you had to upload images from your PC, modifying the image title before uploading otherwise the new image would have replaced the previous one with the same name. Now you can upload the image from any device and change it online, then save it or publish it directly. So you will now be able to do all your blogging from a tablet or any mobile device.

That's it for now, more on the way ! :-)

Thanks

How do I get images into a file that I can select from?
I have tried to download an avatar to my blog but this is refused as the picture is too big. It doesn't give me any method of reducing the size however????

To jane27
The size of an avatar that EOS allows is actually 150 x 150, larger than most avatars. The avatar that tinypic does is 100 x 75

Or try image-tools.com selecting 'image resizer' as that's got the size 150 x 150

Thank you to everyone for your comments. I have now successfully updated photos on to my blog.
The problem I have now is that my profile and avatar are not appearing on the side of my posts.
Appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

I have now got my photo and profile problems sorted but having difficulty with the correct URL address to put on the Adsense link.
Can anyone advise?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to rotate a photo once it is uploaded and appears 'sideways'. This has happened a couple of times, even though the photo is correct before uploading. I've tried altering the size but it makes no difference??

Hi
You can't do that on the website I am afraid. You will need to do it on your photo viewer software on your computer before uploading it. Sorry
