Hi

is anyone having any problems with internet explorer, when I

go onto any website lately I am in the middle of something

and it just cuts me off and says INTERNET EXPLORER

CANNOT DISPLAY THE WEBPAGE, I then try diagnostic

problems and it tells me either

1. your connection is restored OR

2. try unplugging your modem/router ect.

It is driving me crazy. WHAT CAN BE WRONG????

It sounds like your router is the problem, seems it is dropping the connection.  Are you using a wireless connection?

Hi justin

I know I will sound a bit *THICK* but I am new to computer

use so not sure what you mean by wireless connection.

I am in spain at the moment and my phone (landline) and computer

connection are via satelitte installation if this helps.

Hi pat and roy, also justin

I have switched the p.c. off and everything else( there are loads of cables) I unplugged

everything and put plugs back in, just checked and I have a wireless broadband

router, plus a small box which says internet phone adapter(I presume this is

because my landline and internet connection is via a  satelitte connection and

not telefonica) Will see how this works. I have 2 questions

1. what is a modem??

2. Is it possible to unplug all computer stuff and still leave phone on??

At the moment I switch off my computer when not in use as I do not want to leave

it on standby therefore my phone is also switched off!! HELP

I'm not really sure of the set up you have there.

The wireless router should have an aerial sticking out of it, into which your internet connection is plugged in.

I don't understand why you lose your phone when the PC is switched off.  Is it an IP phone, such as Skype?

Have you tried contacting your provider?

When we first got satelite internet  we had problems getting on line. They were very patient and talked us through the setup etc.

the wireless router has a piece sticking up like an aerial on either side of the box, lots of cables

plugged into it. think I had better get in touch with my provider as I said before when I switch computer off totally I have no

phone either.
