Does your Tax knowledge cover the recent changes that have been applied to selling on your purchase contract prior to completion!
I was informed by my solicitor that any purchaser of an off plan contract would be required to pay over another 7% IVA of the full purchase price amount even though the contract holder may have already paid 7% on the deposit paid on account?

Hi Mike these are not recent changes. On selling of off plan contracts has always been subject to Transfer tax at 7%. However developers have been getting round this by tearing upp the original contract and issuing a new one for the new purchaser and the "investor" has thus avoided his TT liability. What has happened is that Hacienda being aware of the amount of tax that has been evaded over the last decade or so have introduced procedures to ensure that the original investors name is recorded and then any amendment to the contract in terms of buyer names is subject to TT. I highlighted a warning about this towards the end of 2006 and ensuring that all purchasers should be recorded on the purchase contract from day 1. I have had several clients that have added wives and partners to contracts post reservation contract stage (no intent to ever sell on) and there has been a TT liability to add them to the contract.

Her tumour is now 99% "dead" and the remaining 1% has "dying" cells in it.

She has been through su much this little girl, I feel ashamed to moan about everyday things.
