It appears that Global Aim Mortgages has been taken over by a new Broker and Mr Jim Mellon is no longer there

They are difficult to get hold of as the phone numbers and fax on their website are none functional as of 1st April 2008

I am told that they do respond to emails????

info@globalaimmortgages.com

Good luck

I was not pleased with my dealings with GA.

The mortgage I was offered (verbally - never saw ANY paperwork) was NOT the deal it turned out to be. Other people have since told me this.

Halifax Spain are offering 15 years Interest Only if its a mortgage you are looking for.

Like you I was recommended to GA and they were poor. I dont think that Compliance is something that is shown a great deal of importance in Spain but then again it is us that has the likes of Northern Rock and not them!

I contacted Halifax in Sotogrande and they turned me down for an interest only deal over 6 years, 10 years, 15 years whatever period you like. They also declined a pal of mine looking for a similar deal. This was just a few weeks ago. I dont think that either of us represent a particular bad risk to lenders but I guess that the credit crunch is worldwide. I will perhaps try to remortgage again in the future when things settle down a bit.

Still not had any letter regards the AGM and as I am off today for three weeks will not be in attendance. Sorry but good luck to any that are going.

Hi Peter,

Thats interesting. I have only been recommended the Halifax and not heard of anyone being successful or unsuccessful. One of the other guys on this forum (think it was Jonnyb ?) was in the process of remortgaging with the Halifax.  Anyone out there who has had any success recently ?

Do you know the reason for the decline ? Was it an issue with a lower valuation ?

As for AGM, I have had an email but no letter either - even though they were supposed to be sending them last week.

Thanks

Nigel

Nothing to do with the valuation. We didnt even get that far. I think that it is just the whole finance crisis at the moment.

Hi there, just to say that I have now transferred my mortgage over to Halifax with 15 year interest free but I recently spoke to the Lady dealing with my remortgage and the deal I was offered is no longer about. This is in terms of the interest rate though I think I got Euribor + 1.25% and now they are offering Euribor + 1.75%. The credit crunch has unfortunately made banks a bit twitchy
