Hello,

Just a quick question regarding the payment of purchase price and fees.

Is it normal/acceptable/okay for the transfer of monies to go straight to the solicitors bank account as opposed to my Spanish bank account? Has anyone done this?

I ask because I have just received a breakdown of fees and am being asked to transfer to money to the solicitors account.

Many thanks

You can do its perfectly normal. Or you could use a money transfer company like transfer wise you could save some money by putting it into your Spanish bank  account as you will get a better rate, then forward it to your solicitor.

I did the same, no problems. Choose the company you use to transfer the money wisely laugh

I use Transferwise. If you use this link to signup you will get a free transfer and I'll get £50 for every three signups wink

Having said that, you might want to choose a more reputable company to transfer large amounts but they will fleece you. Transferwise appear safe and well backed.

"Transferwise is money services company registered in UK with HM Revenue and Customs certificate number 12591871. They are authorised by the FCA (UK Financial Conduct Authority) as a payments institution with reference 571669. This certificate gives them same legal right to receive and send fund transfers as regular banks do."

Thank you everyone for your replies. Seems to be normal then. I don't know what I was thinking to be honest, but something in my head was telling me to send it to my own Spanish account first.

With regards to transfering the money. I already have it in Euro's in a savings account I hold in Republic of Ireland. I have been puting money in that account over the years when the exchange rate was favourable. Seems to have worked out pretty good compared to the current rate.

I received an e-mail this afternoon, the solicitor is aiming at a signing date of 12th Feb.

I'm taking it that I have to be present for this?

Regards
